It is located right on the seafront along Capomulini’s promenade, in a very central area, with a balcony facing the sea where you can spend precious hours admiring sunrises and sunsets and enjoying pleasant aperitifs. It’s ideally situated for exploring the surrounding area and is halfway between destinations like Taormina and Syracuse. It’s also an excellent starting point for trips to Catania, Mount Etna, and other nearby attractions, as well as for traveling to Catania Airport itself. About three kilometers away lies Acireale, the pearl of Sicilian Baroque, known for its 100 richly decorated churches, which house precious works of art prized throughout Europe; about 60 km away is Messina, a beautiful city just three km from the Italian mainland, accessible by ferry. Messina was completely rebuilt after the terrible earthquake of 1908 and features architectural gems in the Art Nouveau style, the MU.ME—a regional museum housing paintings by Antonello da Messina and Caravaggio—as well as the beautiful historic clock of the Cathedral, which comes to life every day at noon. Also within walking distance of the apartment is the famous village of Acitrezza, with its sea stacks—which, according to legend, were hurled there by the giant Polyphemus. Not far away is Acicastello, with its magnificent Norman castle overlooking the sea and its enchanting views. From Capomulini, you can also visit some of Sicily’s most beautiful beaches—Isola Bella, Marina di Cottone, Bosco Marino, and Fondachello—as well as head south to explore the Vendicari Nature Reserve, Portopalo di Capopassero, and Marzamemi. In the village, you’ll find numerous restaurants and trattorias where you can savor the exquisite dishes of Sicilian tradition and its wonderful desserts—many of which trace their origins to the island’s numerous periods of rule, such as the cannolo and Sicilian cassata. Don’t forget the arancino, a classic Sicilian dish made with rice seasoned in a variety of ways—from meat sauce to tomato and eggplant to pistachio, just to name the most common ones. Another Sicilian specialty is granita—a refreshing treat available in a wide range of flavors, especially fruit-based ones; strawberry, mulberry, peach, melon, lemon, almond, pistachio, coffee, and chocolate—just to name the most common ones.
