Carolina Suites

The apartment is very nice, with lots of light and nice furniture. The couch, bed and dining are are all very comfortable and it is clear the owner has made an effort to make it nice. The bathroom is nice and the shower always had hot water. The guy who manages the apartment lives in the building and it was very easy to communicate with him during our stay. He went above and beyond to make sure our stay was excellent. The area is very safe, and the building is very close to a huge shopping center with a very good supermarket, as well as a metro station. The park is safe during the day and lots of families are out with their kids. At night, it is advisable to avoid unlit areas even in this part of town.

The washing machine that was advertised was not even there. The ad said it had a washing machine, and showed a picture of a washer-dryer combo. But when we arrived it had been taken out and instead the space was used as a broom closet. It looked like the machine had not been there for some time. The guy who manages the booking lives in the building and he organized it so that we got to use his private washing machine instead. One day, he even left his front door open so I could come and go when he wasn't home. However, this meant I could not wash anything the evening we arrived and, as we had spent ten days in the mountains, we had a lot of laundry when we arrived. The parking is safe, but because it is an old building you have to play a bit of tetris. However this is common in older buildings in this area as people now have more cars than the building was originally intended for. We managed to get around the neighbors car with our motorcycles, but we had to lift our luggage above another neighbors car. If you have a car you could end up needing to wait for a neighbor to move theirs before getting in/out etc.
