Apartment L'Escoll by Interhome

Apartment is in a great location and is a decent size and price. It is close to the Arenal where shops/restaurants and easily accessible. The outside area is nice and can easily accommodate larger groups.

We arrived late in the evening and there was no clear communication to advise that the keys were to be collected from the rental office, which was half a mile away. Lock box code was provided, but no notes on the booking that the lock box was not at the property. 24 hours contact number was able to help, but should have been more clear on the booking details. When we finally got the keys, they did not open either of the locked metal gates, and these could not be opened without a key. This meant all guest had to clime over the fencing, and pass over bags to enter the property. Luckily all guest were fit enough to clime over. Older/elderly guest would not have been able to do so and would have been stuck without accommodation for the evening. Visited the rental office (on Saturday morning) who advised this was a new set of keys, that they had not tested and they provided another set of keys. There was no real apology or concern and they advise if the new keys did not work, they could not do anything until Monday (last day of our stay). New keys thankfully worked and we were able to open the gate. Quite a strong smell of drains when entering the apartment. Property was clean enough, but seemed like it had been empty for some time and items like the fridge (had to pull the fridge out of it's cabinet to plug in) and water tanks were unplugged. Property had obviously not been properly checked before our stay, which is disappointing. Beds not the best quality and some new beds would make a difference. The property could be really good with a few changes and a bit more care by those managing rentals. If they had done a proper check of the property before our stay, these issues wouldn't have existed and would have enjoyed our stay.
