Makere House is located above Cane Garden Bay, Tortola, and enjoys gentle breezes and magnificent views out over the bay, surrounding islands and the Caribbean Sea. Situated within a tropical garden at the end of a short gated drive Makere House represents the ideal retreat in which to relax and unwind.
The house is very spacious and ideal for a couple or single guest. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, views out to the bay and an ensuite bathroom. The living room is very comfortable with a 3 seater sofa bed and armchair and adjoins the open plan kitchen via a breakfast bar. The kitchen has all modern requirements and there is a washing machine and tumble dryer in the pump room underneath the house.
The house has been built very much in the ‘Caribbean Style’ with an expansive 12ft wide wrap around wooden deck, blue shutter windows, white walls and terracotta-tiled floors creating a clean and simple environment. With its positioning up on the hill there is usually a lovely cooling breeze at all times of year.
Makere House is one of two holiday rental villas on the property. Makere House is on the upper level with Makere Cottage below. Both are one bedroom and completely private and separate to one another. They are rented only to couples or single guests to ensure a quiet and peaceful environment on the property.

You will need to hire a 4-wheel drive vehicle on arrival in Tortola. We can provide you with contact details for a local car rental company who will meet you at the airport or ferry terminal and, if arriving after hours, arrange for you to be collected and taken to Makere where you car will be waiting. All of this information and more will be supplied after you have made your reservation.
Our property manager lives nearby and can provide emergency assistance if you need it. Their contact number will be provided with the joining instructions.

This was our first trip staying on Tortola. Found the island to be friendly, relaxing and beautiful. Smugglers cove for snorkeling. And a delicious fish sandwich at Niguel’s Beach cafe. The roads for us, where a challenge and took time to get use to the switchbacks and steep roads. When we arrived by ferry to the West End , Jerry’s car rental did help us find our Makere Cottage up on hillside. We were thankful for this guidance as the roads were a challenge at first.What a magnificent view from above Cane Garden Bay. So peaceful. Sunsets spectacular. The home was clean and very comfortable. Once we opened the shutter windows, the breeze filled the house. And with the help of fans became comfortable. Didnt have much issues with bugs. We spent the next four days exploring the island. Hiked on Sage Mt. , enjoyed Brewers Bay Beach. Ocean was a little kicked up that day so snorkeling wasn’t clear. Restaurants around the island were good. Some better than others. Tina , the owner was very easy to communicate with. We spent evenings in the cottage , enjoying the view and nature sounds of the hillside. Very quiet otherwise then the bird calls, etc. We were supplied with beach chairs and towels , etc. We rented our car, a Toyota Rav which handled the steep and twisted roads well.

We had a lovely stay. The best view I have ever seen in person--it really does look exactly like the picture. The house has shutter doors that allow all-day breezes, so things were cool and we had no trouble with mosquitos. The place was a haven, quiet and calming. Very private, even with guests in the other house on the property.

Makere house was a great find!!! The pictures are beautiful and they still not give the views justice. The property was very clean and comfortable. The property owners were easy to communicate with and their suggestions for local food, car rental, taxi service, and activities were spot on. I highly recommend for any couple looking for time away.
