Magdala Garden

Lovely decor and very clean. Calming outdoor area.

Coffee machine but no pods! We were happy to buy some but when trying to enquire what type to buy before we arrived…nobody was able to tell us. This meant we couldn’t have coffee on the first morning. This could be easily solved by stating the type of machine in the arrival instructions or sales text. I left our purchased pods behind so the next customers should be fine! There are a lot of stairs…whilst Salcombe is clearly hilly, I would worry if elderly or infirm people unknowingly booked this property. The property should be better signposted, the ‘Magdala Garden’ sign is not visible from the path, and we tried to enter two other properties (at 10pm!) before finding the dark unlit staircase which led to a ‘Magdala Garden’ sign. This is easily fixable but otherwise frustrates the arrival process. Lastly, we had no hot water on day 2 as the immersion heater had never been turned on, however it must have had enough water to work on day 1. the instructions should say ‘ensure immersion heater is on when you arrive’. Instead, they stated that it was on, and to remember to turn it off! These are small points but took the shine off what was otherwise a wonderful stay.
