Lowenek House

The location is fantastic. It’s situated just off the bottom of the main street, close enough to walk everywhere but far enough away that you aren’t disturbed by any pub or nightlife noise. The beach is only a 3-minute walk away, and having a Co-op directly across the road was incredibly convenient for picking up essentials. A real bonus was the two dedicated parking spaces - something that’s hard to come by in such a prime location and made our stay even more enjoyable.

The main downside for us was the cleanliness. We found rubbish under some of the beds and in cupboards, including old toothpaste packaging and other items left behind by previous guests. We ended up doing a quick clean ourselves before fully settling in. There were also a few maintenance issues, such as broken curtain clips in the main bedroom and balcony doors, which meant the curtains couldn’t be properly closed, and some kitchen drawers that were coming off their runners. The top-floor bedroom also had a very strong aftershave smell on one of the beds, which made us reluctant to use it. That said, none of these issues ruined our stay, and they were all manageable. The cleanliness was the only aspect that we felt needed attention. On a positive note, the host was very responsive and helpful throughout. When we had trouble accessing the property, the team on the phone were lovely, and messages were answered quickly.

Size, space, amenities and location were very good.

Second floor shower didn't work correctly (poor flow rate). Mattress in the Annexe was uncomfortable due to hard springs and when using the shower a fishy odour was apparent. Wall heater in second floor double bedroom loose on wall. Portable heaters (3) are not usable due to no caster wheel assembles being fitted. Not able to access external key safe for remote control of gate. Remote control on key ring to back door but gate not operational. Black rubbish bin was full when we arrived.
