Hebron Gardens House

Hebron Gardens House is a beautiful property, with extremely comfortable rooms set in exquisite gardens. There is a lovely pool, a fantastic restaurant and Leo serves a great mojito! Breakfasts were huge and both dinners we had as part of our half board package were delicious and varied. Our room was huge, and very clean - they even changed the sheets for night two!

The property is beautiful with wide gardens and beautifully maintained pool, dining area and verandah spaces. The views from the dining area are spectacular and there's a wealth of birdlife around! We were shifted to room 2 on the second day of our stay and would definitely recommend this - it's a lovely large room with a large and well-appointed bathroom. It also has a verandah outside, that is separated by a gate from the common verandah, and overlooks the shared garden space. The furniture is incredibly comfortable and most of it is designed by the hosts! The cane chairs all around the property are roomy and comfy! We managed to get a few hours of sunshine in the garden, which is provided with very comfortable chairs and single-seater swings. Finally, the staff were all so friendly, helpful and offered us great suggestions! We had rainy weather almost all the days we were there, and Tharindhu especially was fantastic at helping us figure out the few hours that would be clear and where we could go in this time. The food was fantastic! We had dinner here all the days we stayed. The breakfasts are great- but huge! Let the staff know about your preferred portion sizes in advance as the portions are incredibly generous :)

Our first day we were in Room no. 1, which is an innovatively designed space. However, one problem we faced was the lack of a bathroom door (the room is L-shaped, so there is total privacy, but the room opens directly into the bathroom). This is a problem both in terms of transferring moisture into the room and also with the potential for bugs to come into the room. We were there during intense rains, due to which we had one instance of a cockroach emerging in the bathroom. However, this was swiftly dealt with and the property was extremely quick to acknowledge this. This is quite an unusual occurrence and they showed us why this was a possibility during heavy rains. We continued to stay on the property for 2 more days and didn't see any other bugs anywhere else at all on the property (which is pretty incredible, given how green it is!). This incident and the slightly awkward design of Room no. 1 was our only issue and the rest of the stay was great.

We felt like we were staying at a friends place.

There was nothing not to like about the property.

We rented the 3-bedroom villa, which is located in their backyard. Be aware this is a (beautiful) private residence, and there seem to be two rental apartments in their backyard: one bedroom for a couple, and then their “villa” with three separate bedrooms (and ensuite bathrooms) at ground floor and the living room downstairs. The photos of the beautiful wrap-around porch belongs to their private residence, and the pool in the backyard is shared. Everything was very clean, and the bathrooms were modern. We also booked breakfast and dinner as part of the package, and found the food very enjoyable. Staff was very professional and attentive.

We felt a bit like an afterthought (perhaps because there was a private party going on one of the two nights we stayed there). Barely any communication at check in, we had to ask for basic stuff such as wifi password etc. The party guests celebrated on the roof top of our 4-bedroom bungalow, and the pool area was also crowded by the guests. There was no heads up about the party, which also meant our driver couldn’t park the car in the overfull parking area. To be fair, we eventually were offered a coffee or a glass of wine. So let’s assume this was a one-off with poor communication. However, the basement level (our living room with kitchenette) had quite a smell of drainage. We would have also appreciated more towels to have a set of towels for the pool. The garden itself was beautiful and an oasis (without party guests), but there are only 3 sun chairs around the pool (for six guests during the first night of our stay).
