Town: Translating in Gaelic to 'pebbly place', Dornoch is a delightful seaside resort in the North of Scotland. It is a beautiful town with so much to see and do and it is a place full of history and culture. Dornoch is home to the 13th-century Dornoch Cathedral and directly opposite the cathedral is Dornoch Castle which is now a hotel making it the perfect place to stop off and stay awhile. Dornoch has a golf course that has been voted the fifth best outside of the US so is well worth a visit. No visit to Dornoch is complete without a visit to Dornoch beach situated on the beautiful Dornoch Firth and with its miles of golden sands is a great place for beach walks and activities. Aside from the beauty and history, Dornoch has a great range of shops, galleries, cafes, pubs and restaurants to discover and is the perfect place for picking up gifts to take home to loved ones.
