Some of the reviews on here are so overtop. This place offer great value for money and is clearly a budget option. There is a locker for valuable. I was in dorm, very hot without AC, worth paying for. Communal space. A short walk to centre of galle/station/fort. The road directly to the hostel from the centre is not amazing as no paediastrian path, but just have your phone light on at night. Hosts were friendly, place was clean enough, felt comfortable in the shower and bed/sheets etc. It's more a homestay vibe than business hostel. I'm not someone who can deal with dirty places and this is not one, it's clean like a clean home but maybe not a hotel which is understable at the price point

On arrival I was told that they had allocated the room I booked to another guest so I would be in a different room where I would have to pay an additional price for air con. I showed them that my initial room I booked said air con was included so I did not want to pay extra for this. They then told me that despite the booking saying it had air con that room I initially booked did not even include a fan. This room was 2-3x the price of other double private rooms in the area which included fans so I was disappointed to have paid a premium for air con when I didn’t receive it but as I had already paid a deposit and Uber fare I stayed. The room I was moved to was situated by the communal area so there was a lot of noise until the early hours of the morning from other guests and I felt uncomfortable leaving my room to use the bathroom and couldn’t sleep due to noise. There was also a power cut for 40 minutes while I appreciate that it was not the fault of the owners there could have been some communication. Finally I would appreciate a bolt or sliding lock on the door, particularly as the door was outside and in a communal area just for extra security.
Having said that the room was clean and comfortable and the owners were kind and chatty I just personally felt a little uncomfortable due to lack of facilities (air con, electricity between 9:30 and 10:10pm) and bolt locks)
