However, the main reason I chose this particular property was the swimming pool. I looked through many accommodation options in Madrid because we were travelling at the beginning of June with two children, and the weather was already quite hot for us. I specifically searched for accommodation with a swimming pool and was willing to pay more for this amenity. I even specifically asked the Booking.com chatbot whether this property had a swimming pool, and I received a clear answer that it did. The property listing stated that there was a swimming pool. After I submitted a complaint through Booking.com, the property responded that I had been informed about the closed pool at around 6 p.m. and that, if I was unhappy with the situation, I could have left the property and looked for alternative accommodation in the evening time with two kids. Moreover, nobody actually offered me the option of leaving with a full refund The fact that I was informed about the closed pool only after arrival does not solve the problem. I chose and paid for this property specifically because it was advertised as having a swimming pool. Had I known in advance that the pool would not be available during our stay, I would have booked different and less expensive accommodation. Another issue was the cigarette smoke. We shared the building with other guests, and someone was smoking even though smoking was prohibited. The entire corridor smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, and the smell even came into our room from under the door. There was also a strong smell of cigarettes coming from the cabinet under the sink whenever we opened it. I reported this problem to person providing support, but unfortunately, despite my complaint, the situation was not resolved and the smell of cigarette smoke remained.
