The Adler has 5 double rooms spread across the 1st and 2nd floors. The size of the double rooms ranges from 24 to 31 m². In the double rooms, the kitchenette is integrated into the living-dining area, right next to the semicircular dining table by the window. The double rooms offer views to the north, overlooking the Old Town and the Gehrenberg, as well as to the south, with a sweeping view toward Lake Constance and all the way to the Swiss Alps.
The Adler has been welcoming guests since September 1, 2025! It took two years of planning and just under three years of construction to bring the 18th-century Gasthof Adler back to life. The extensive renovation included a complete overhaul of the entire building, a full extension on the east side, and the addition of a new residential floor. On the first, second, and third floors, the Golden Adler invites you to stay high above the historic rooftops of Markdorf. On the first floor, however, a culinary restaurant welcomes you within historic walls but with a new splendor. A former bowling alley in a historic vaulted cellar has been transformed into Markdorf’s “Szenenbar.” A total of 14 one-bedroom apartments, two two-bedroom apartments, and two three-bedroom apartments were created across three floors. The 18 apartments are divided into 6 different categories, which—while offering the same amenities and comfort—differ in room size and layout unterscheiden.as Adler emerged from a traditional inn steeped in history and now combines that heritage with a modern and contemporary concept for young and old alike. Whether for a family vacation, a short city break, or a business trip, we’re rewriting the story of tradition.
We offer our guests the greatest possible comfort and flexibility upon arrival. This means you can enter Das Adler and check into your apartment on your own, without having to worry about opening hours.
For our discerning guests, all apartments combine the comfort of a hotel with the spaciousness of a vacation rental. A private, fully equipped kitchenette, a cozy sitting area, and the unique decor create a comfortable, home-like atmosphere and offer greater flexibility during your vacation.
“Meet and Greet” is our motto here—local guests mingle with an international crowd. The in-house terrace, with a view over the southern part of Markdorf toward Lake Constance and all the way to the mountains, is open to all guests. The special ambiance warmly invites you to enjoy breakfast in the morning sun or a glass of wine at sunset.
For guests who want to truly enjoy their vacation, we offer a very special kind of breakfast service. The neighboring Café Harmonie serves a selection of homemade breakfast items.
