Located just minutes from historic Williamsburg, you can explore the area or stay on property and relax by the pool and enjoy the many family friendly amenities on site. This resort was surprisingly pleasing. I had to book lodging for a large group of family members traveling to the Williamsburg area for a funeral and Wyndham Kingsgate was an excellent choice. The property was very clean including the furniture in the common areas (i.e., sofas and chairs). The king beds in the 2BR suites were comfortable and spacious. I'm a timeshare owner in Vegas and I might rate Kingsgate higher than my own. Though we didn't have time to fully engage in onsite activities, I could see from the schedule that a variety of family-fun activities were offered. On our first night we did briefly stop by the activity center to listen to the live band, which was nice. From a quick walk through of the center, I could see that it's equipped with entertaining options. A premium perk of Kingsgate is it's location. Located within 2 or less miles of Richmond Rd, which is a main street artery with various stores, gas stations, restaurants, etc.To top all things off, cost to stay at the property is well worth what you get in accommodations.

The condo was clean and comfortable and convenient to William & Mary. Good for a family that needs a little more room than a local hotel. We did not use the amenities, as we were in town for meetings and to see our daughter. The only annoyance was the Wyndham marketing staff pushing the resort and trying to get us to attend a sales meeting to get our "gift." That did not happen the first time I stayed at the resort through VRBO, which I appreciated.

It needs to made very clear that this is a time share property! After checking in, I was sent to get my keys from the concierge, who spent forever trying to convince me to attend a time share presentation. The listing says you can “politely decline,” but that is not the case. I refused repeatedly and they continued to pressure me to attend, saying “nothing opens before 10 anyways, it’s an expectation that you attend and you’d be the first person to turn us down.” I was very frustrated that it was not made abundantly clear in the listing that I was renting a time share and would be subjected to this pressure. It was listed at the very bottom of the listing and said you can “politely decline.”The property itself was great for our needs with 3 kids. The kitchen was great for breakfasts and a few meals at home. We checked in on a Thursday and the activity center was pretty quiet and the kids enjoyed the arcade and mini golf. It was much busier on Friday and Saturday (in March), so I’d guess it would be pretty busy during the summer months. The location was great for getting to Colonial Williamsburg. Other comments noted how thin the walls were and we definitely heard doors opening and closing, etc. and didn’t sleep great because we could hear things outside our room. If you’re ok dealing with the time share pressures and thin walls, we liked the other aspects of our stay but I wouldn’t stay again because I hate being pressured into something after I’ve said no once.
