Eningu Kalahari Lodge

I stayed at Eningu as a solo traveler for three nights before having to be in Windhoek for work. It was an absolute treat. Beautiful grounds that have obviously been very thoughtfully designed. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the lodge as a whole was just super cozy, with fireplaces and a small library. I spent time by the pool and walking along the many footpaths surrounding the lodge looking at animaltracks and birds and taking in the scenes. Two of the three nights I was there, I was the only guest so the manager Christian, manager-in-training Yuri, and staff were incredibly accommodating. The food was delicious, breakfast especially far exceeded my expectations, as it had been included. The manager was even able to organize a morning trip to visit Dörte Berner’s, the local artist who founded Eningu with her husband, farm Pepperkol close by to see her sculptures and art. I’m not sure how much longer she’ll be accepting visitors herself, but it was a genuine highlight. I could go on and on. 11+/10. I will certainly be back the next time I’m in Namibia.

There’s not much negative I can say. The only downside was it was a bit difficult to reach the property without my own vehicle. The lodge happily organised a private transfer for me from the airport and then to Windhoek city when I left. It was just a bit costly. But I think that’s just how it is. It was still absolutely worth it. Just something to be aware of if you’re traveling without your own car.

This lodge was the perfect place to spend our last night before heading to the airport (it's a 1 hour drive to the international airport; Windhoek, the capital is a 45 min drive away). The clay brick architecture and design of the lodge is rustic, classic and beautiful with the lodge built right into the bush. We loved the afternoon tea, the porcupine theme, the fabulous cellar, and the homemade bread rolls with breakfast (they were still warm!) The host Christian was charming and knowledgeable.

I would have liked a hairdryer in the room. Otherwise, we liked everything
