The apartment is very close to Porto’s main attractions, but what makes it special is that it sits in a historic, traditional part of the city rather than in a heavily touristic area. This meant trully atmospheric and a more local feel, including at least three local (rather than touristy) Fado venues within a three‑minute walk. That said, the area is very hilly, which was absolutely fine for us travelling with rucksacks and happy to walk up and down steep streets, but it could be challenging for guests with wheeled luggage or mobility restrictions. Staying in an old, traditional building was a great experience and has added to the sense of place. However, as the walls are made of stone, the apartment can feel quite cold and slightly damp, especially on rainy days -as it was when we stayed. We imagine it would work well during Porto’s hot summer months. However, there were heaters and a blanket provided to address this issue. Because of the building’s layout and the steep terrain, a significant portion of the apartment is made up of stairs, leaving the remaining living space rather small. The space is used exteremly efficiently with a fully equipped kitchen cleverly hidden behind a wooden cupboard shown in the photos. The apartment was clean, and the owner was extremely responsive and helpful. When we experienced a short electricity outage, he replied quickly and resolved the issue within 30 minutes. He also shared recommendations for places to visit as well as restaurants and bars, which we really appreciated.
There were a few aspects of the apartment that may not suit everyone. The space felt quite small for three people, particularly given the layout and the fact you have to walk down the stairs straight after entering the front door. While it was manageable for a short stay, it could feel cramped for longer visits or for guests needing more room to spread out. Natural light was also limited. The only external windows were in the living area where the sofa bed is located, and these did not have curtains, meaning the room became very bright early in the morning. The bedroom itself did not have a proper window, only an opening towards the staircase, which limited ventilation and daylight - what howver might suit the purpose on hot summer days. Despite the short proximity to the reiver, there was no view from the living room/kitchen beyond the nearby buildings just a stretch of a hand away, and some noise from the street/road was noticeable, especially during the early morning. That said, these are very much characteristics of real life in this historic part of Porto rather than shortcomings specific to the apartment. Guests should simply be aware of them and decide whether this type of local experience is what they are looking for.

Localização. Atendimento foi super prestável.
Algum cheiro a humidade. Barulho provocado por carros a bater numa grelha solta, próximo à entrada. Cozinha pouco funcional. Entrada no apartamento é pouco prática para quem tem malas grandes, pois o Hall é pequeno e temos logo as escadas íngremes, para descer ao apartamento.
