Town: This peaceful little village sits on the banks of the River Nith which flows into the Solway Firth, near the southern coast of Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland. Glencaple benefits from a friendly pub/restaurant, a Post Office/shop and a superb tearoom with a convenient shop. Slightly north is the attractive market town of Dumfries, a fine place to base your holiday near as it is lined with charming architecture and a number of different shops, pubs and eateries to take advantage of. The renowned Gretna Green is within touring distance, sat on the England-Scotland border and is worth a visit. Lovers of the outdoors can venture towards the Galloway Forest Park, an idyllic landscape, perfect for nature lovers with much to see and do.
