Le logis de Mel HYPER CENTRE VILLE ÉPERNAY

We stayed for 2 nights whilst travelling by motorcycle across Europe. The property was in an excellent location to enable us to explore the town and visit the local Champagne houses. The apartment is a good size for two adults and had all of the essentials for a self-catering stay. The bed was comfortable and we were able to unpack and make it our own for a couple of days. The host was excellent, with clear communication throughout and recommendations in places to visit, eat and shop. Parking is listed as on site, but be aware that it is the central paid for underground car park. It was €21 for a motorcycle for 2 nights, but it did have a rail to lock the bike to. There is no dedicated parking for the building.

Unfortunately the apartment was in need of some maintenance, we reported all issues to the owner, but had to fix or work around drain smells, loose taps, shower rails falling off of walls, toilet seats falling off - general upkeep issues. Our hope is that these are all fixed for the next guest. The air conditioner was welcome, but it was a noisy free standing unit which struggled with the heat and the space. We were thankful for it, but it was underpowered for the heatwave. Gaining access was clear, but cumbersome - you travel to one property to get the key, a second property to unpack for your stay and then drive to get access to the underground parking.

Fabulous host who was both proactive and responsive throughout our stay. We really appreciated the helpful recommendations for the area. The apartment was comfortable for an overnight stay, with accessible parking and easy access to restaurants.

The key collection was a little inconvenient, as we had to collect and return them at another location. After a long drive, this felt a bit clunky and could be made easier.

Great location and good value

It was quite musty when we arrived - it felt like it needed to be aired. Also EV charging was important to us and we felt it was a bit misleading to say that this was available - we had to visit a public car park and hope that we could find some.

Better instructions are needed for the car park and it cost over double as advertised on booking.com - but a plus is the apartment is above the car park. Keys are collected from a different property around the corner Some of the Plug sockets were coming out of the wall, one not working in the bedroom. Bedding smelt of smoke The host was responsive and valued our feedback, hopefully these issues can be resolved and then it would have been a really great stay! We had our baby so the car park issue was initially an inconvenience, until we figured out the best place to park to access the apartment
