Misleading information - 'private entry'

The property itself was clean and generally as described. The stay would likely have been satisfactory and in line with many of the positive reviews here. However....

However, I feel it is important to clarify the description of the “private entrance.” Although the host states that he uses a separate entrance, the layout still allows direct access to the upstairs accommodation. From a guest’s perspective, this does not feel like a fully private entrance. As a parent travelling with my three-year-old daughter, I felt very uneasy knowing that the host could access the area where we were staying. Because of this, I chose to leave after one night rather than complete the full booking. Had the access arrangement been clearer in the listing, I would likely have chosen accommodation better suited to my needs. I also noticed another recent review mentioning similar discomfort with the setup, so I believe it is important for future guests to be aware of this layout — particularly those who value additional privacy and security. With clearer wording in the listing, or an additional secure internal door, the stay would have felt much more comfortable.

Loved it. Amazing price/quality

I loved that it had 2 sleepingareas (we have a baby), good location, very clean, a lot of goodies and snacks. Although the host lives downstairs, we didnt hear a thing. Very comfi bed. Price was amazing for what you get. Very friendly host and good communication.

The only small issue was that the radiators/heating made noise. Kind of a pounding sound because there were on.

The accommodation is perfect It is clean and has all the facilities you need It is not far from the centre and the car parking permit is an added bonus Although I did not meet Steve in person, he made sure all our requirements were met I will definitely stay there again

A great stay in Portsmouth

Steve was a hospitable and attentive host, who seemed to have thought of everything and spared nothing to offer his guests, a great experience. We were left wine, snacks and lots of other goodies, as other guests were. The pier is within walking distance, along with restaurants and bars all nearby. There is a supermarket, Co-op on the corner too. It was really nice to have a separate living room and bedroom. We were driving and he kindly gave us clear and useful guidance on parking, which was much appreciated.

A clean and well presented apartment and great value

The apartment was spacious, clean and easy to access - communication was good. Parking is a bit troublesome (very common for Portsmouth), but I was able to find a spot nearby. That said Steve (host) was happy to move his car if needed and he provided a parking permit to cover my stay. Would happily stay again.

Parking & sliding bathroom door, I’m an insomniac & aware I didn’t want to disturb the host as he lives below as I’m up a lot at night, that said lovely clean bathroom, felt very welcome

Great stay.

Lovely stay at The Blue House while visiting my daughter in Portsmouth. The house is in a nice quiet street and I had no problem getting parked outside. Inside, the house was spotlessly clean with great facilities. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent stay.

Really comfortable property. One of my favourite overnight stays.

The only down thing for me was the fixed point shower. I am quite big so I prefer to move the Shower head to where I am washing.

Great Stay in Portsmouth

Everything is well prepared before we arrive. The property is clean and tidy. Both soft and hard pillows were provided which suit different needs. Coffee, tea & snacks are offered with the compliment. Steve is the best host that I ever met. He always responds fast, detailed & patient. It is not only value for money, but also out of our expectations. We have a good nice sleep during my stay.

It would be much better if the bathtub with enclosure to avoid water splash.

Immaculate, well equipped apartment. The attention to detail is first class. Very generous offering of tea, coffee etc, including cereal, milk and a bottle of wine. Communication was excellent throughout the process.

Super tolle sehr saubere Unterkunft

Ich war skeptisch bei so guten Bewertungen, bin leider auch schon darauf reingefallen. Aber ja ich muss sagen alles stimmt . Super sauber -tolle Unterkunft- sehr bequeme Betten . Und vielen Dank für die vielen kostenlosen Aufmerksamkeiten wie Kaffee-Tee-heiße Schokolade- frische Milch-Flasche Wein und knabbersachen sowie Frühstückssnacks . Auch sonst wurde an alles gedacht was man so gebrauchen kann. Beim nächsten Besuch in Portsmouth auf jedenfall wieder im blauen Haus.

Etwas ungewohnt war es dass es nicht wirklich eine abgeschlossene Wohnung war-aber auch nicht wirklich störend . Für mich war es nicht von Bedeutung aber eine kleine Herdplatte wäre vielleicht das einzigste was man eventuell noch gebrauchen könnte. Aber mit Mikrowelle, Wasserkocher und Toaster kommt man eigentlich gut zurecht.
