About this house rental
The Artist's Retreat was part of the Huckleberry Mountain Artists' Colony in the 1930s-40s, and you'll understand why artists congregated here the moment you arrive. The wooded mountain setting is serene and the perfect place to relax and recharge, and the cabin is full of original art to inspire your creativity.
Drink your morning coffee on the large screened porch with a view of wildflowers on the mountain, or spend your evening enjoying the mountain air. The Artist's Retreat is the perfect setting to escape the hustle and bustle of life and make memories.
If you get tired of the peace and quiet, the cabin is a short drive to hiking, waterfalls, apple picking, vineyards, historic downtown Hendersonville, and Asheville. Check out our guidebook on Airbnb for our favorite area recommendations.
The cozy king-size beds are perfect for sleeping in late or taking a well-deserved nap. Our beds use the Zinus Green Tea memory foam mattress (12") with 100% cotton bedding. The mattress is medium firm, which we've found to be the most comfortable for the greatest number of people. While the Artist's Retreat has been fully updated with modern conveniences, it is still a historic cabin with the quirks of an almost 100-year-old house, including sloping floors and very low ceilings in the bedrooms that may not be a great fit for tall guests. The Artist's Retreat is not child-proofed. The rock face of the mountain around the Artist's Retreat can be slick when wet.
Historic Writer's Retreat is directly across the road from Historic Artist's Retreat and visible from the front porch. Consider renting both for groups of up to 8 people.

This was a very relaxing, quiet few days. We had a visit with a family member who lives in Arden. We wanted to have s staycation for her to unwind as well. This really hit the mark. They worked with us on check in time and great communication when we had a bit of difficulty signing in to watch a movie. We gave the location a 4 star only because the road which they DID talk about in the description, was rough for our family member not in a truck. It is a steep gravel road to get to the to where the house is located. Once up there. It was great. We enjoyed the record player and albums provided, art materials to use, books to browse thru. The artistic feel was perfect. 2 king beds and 2 bathrooms.The sun room porch was a gem to read in, drink morning coffee, and hear nature sounds. Quiet little sitting areas outside just to sit and relax, we're a nice touch. Great place to escape, read a book, spend time together.
