Tirana's Nest

The host kindly waited for me, even though I did not have the exact timing of when my bus would arrive. There were two small beds, which was fine for me as I traveled alone, but for a couple, it might be awkward. The room was very clean, there was a large new big refrigerator, and a kitchen to cook in. They had an espresso machine with 3 cups already to use, and cold water in the fridge, which was a very sweet touch.

There was a noise from the outside water pump, that kept coming on every 2 mins - I think it was for the entire building, so you could hear it even at midnight, but it wasn't super loud. The bathroom was super clean, and the water heater was new, but it was super cramped - it was almost too small for just the toilet and sink, but you had to shower in that same tiny space.

Its a nice little apartment with cooking element, microwave, coffee maker and fantastic a/c. I would turn it on for jyst a few minutes and the whole apartment would cool down. Oh and a washing machine, that was great.

The beds are singles, not very comfortable for a grown man. There were no plates to eat on but 12 coffee cups.

Es ist hier mehrfach erwähnt worden, dass beim Duschen alles nass wird. Das ist irreführend und muss mal klargestellt werden: in einen Raum für ein Klo und ein kleines Waschbecken eine Dusche an der Wand zu montieren und einen Abfluss, ist schon SEHR spartanisch. Es wird also in der Tat alles nass, aber das ist so vorgesehen, und es trocknet auch schnell wieder. Damit kann man sich arrangieren. Ansonsten ist die Ausstattung sehr gut: großer Kühlschrank mit Gefrierfach, Mikrowelle + Kochmöglichkeit, Waschmaschine, Bügelbrett + Bügeleisen wurden mir auf Anfrage prompt (in Minuten!) zur Verfügung gestellt. Zusätzliche Decken im Schrank. Die Lage ist strategisch sehr günstig. Man sollte allerdings wissen, dass sie in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft der neu erbauten größten Moschee des Balkans ist. Die Muezzin-Rufe aus 16 Lautsprechern werden morgens allerdings in der Lautstärke angepasst, da es unter der Tiraner Bevölkerung Proteste gegeben hatte. Ist auch immer nur kurz. Die Gastfreundlichkeit der Tiraner ist sprichwörtlich.
