Bintang Beach 2 Bungalow

The location is very good. The brakfast is simple but nice. The wifi works good. The cafe next to the appartment is great. Just 30 seconds from the beach with amazing sunset. Very quiet day and night. Everything is new, nice and very clean. The bed is super comfy.

It would have been useful to have a hand towel in the bathroom and hand soap. The soap containers in the shower were almost empty. There was just one toilet paper roll for four days, so we had to ask for more toilet paper. There is no privacy from the hosts upstairs when they get in. The wood ceiling makes everything trumble when the hosts upstairs walk around. It would be nice to have also white curtains to have privacy and light inside the room during the day.

The balcony on the upper floor was very spacious and private. Being a new property makes a real difference, especially in Gili Air, where bungalows at this price are often run-down. The room and bathroom are both spacious, and the bungalow receives plenty of natural light — another feature that’s hard to find in most Gili Air accommodations. It’s also conveniently close to the beach.

My husband and I stayed here for almost two months (we paid upfront and experienced issues later on). While we appreciated the newness of the room and its overall design, there are many important points future guests should be aware of. The most difficult part was that my husband, who is local, was never acknowledged as a guest. Despite me repeatedly mentioning that we were two, all communication was directed only to me. We were given just one towel, and small gestures like a “complimentary juice” were offered only to me. After two months, it was hard not to feel this was discrimination. Key points to consider: Rooms & noise: The beachside room (shown in the listing) costs double, while the others are at the back near construction — something not described in the ad, which feels misleading. There is no soundproofing, so you hear everything from neighbors (literally), including footsteps. Heat & air conditioning: The upstairs wooden room gets extremely hot. The air conditioning barely works. We bought a fan but we often had headaches. WiFi & facilities: The WiFi never worked. The “garden view” is actually a construction site, and the “private beach” is public and concrete. Services: This is not a one-bedroom house but a spacious room with a bathroom (cold water only). No regular cleaning, no reception, no drinking water, and toilet paper was replaced only a few times. Wildlife: Since the property is located in an open field, small mice enter the room through the ceiling. Support: With no reception, outages of power and water left us without help. Messages went unanswered, and we had to rely on neighbors' help instead. We left early and didn't complete our stay. I share this to give future guests a clearer picture and to encourage the owners to see this as a business. At the very least, acknowledgment and communication are essential. With more transparency and equal treatment of all guests, this place could offer a more professional experience.
