Do Padre

It was great to be able to stay in the second apartment (Cairo) at Do Padres after my week of work nearby. This one overlooks the pool and has more open sky which I enjoyed. There are numerous places to sit beside the pool - with or without sun - and all are comfortable. The garden truly is a delight and I enjoyed this different perspective of it. Yes, it is smaller than the Lisbon apartment, yet it again had everything that I needed. It was bright and airy, beautifully and thoughtfully furnished for travelers. The shower was easy to use, the mirror lights up, and there was room in the bathroom for my products. Again I appreciated being able to have a washing machine to do my laundry and a great drying rack with pegs to hang things outside. The dedicated host, Christian, really is what makes this place special. He was so very kind and helpful - answered all my questions promptly. He's very knowledgeable about the history of the area. Since I was traveling alone, this was an unexpected help to me as I've not had other hosts be so easily available or helpful. All the little extra touches he includes - welcome package, pens and paper, detailed information about local attractions - and even the high quality bath products made with olive oil! I'd highly recommend either of these 2 Do Padres apartments. The photos are accurate and the pool is very private, just shared with the other apartment. The location is ideal for exploring the many attractions of this area from river beaches, vineyards, local summer festivals, Fatima, and the Templar Knight Castle at Tomar where the shopping was of better quality than what I found in Lisbon afterwards. The tiny town where Do Padres is located is walkable and delightfully quiet because of the minimal traffic. Discover this different and genuine part of Portugal where you can feel like a local, away from the multitude of tourists in Lisbon.

I do recommend having a car so you can go out and explore all this central area of Portugal has to offer. However, this property is an easy hour train trip from Lisbon and Christian is great about helping you out with logistics.

This Lisbon apartment is spacious, comfortable, and wonderfully quiet. It was the perfect place to stay before a week of work nearby. The interior design is thoughtful and even the smallest details are carefully considered. The kitchen is well equipped and even has good quality knives which help to make easy meal prep. The washing machine worked well and drying rack made laundry easy. The beautiful property is a gated oasis in a small, walkable town with little traffic. The garden is a work of art with many plants and trees to discover. This apartment is very private. The private pool is salt water based and gorgeous day or night with lots of comfortable lounge chairs so you can coose sun or shade. The host, Christian, was always quick to respond to my messages with helpful information and ideas. I've stayed in many places and this truly was my first "superhost" experience. He speaks English, German, and Portuguese. There is so much to see and do nearby and the host has lots of helpful material in the apartment to make it easy for you to discover nearby places from Fatima and the Knights Templar castle at Tomar - both a short drive away. There are also many festivals over the summer months. As an older single woman, I always felt very comfortable at this property and in all the areas nearby that I visited. If you want to experience a true part of Portuguese life, this is the place to stay!

The Indian Restaurant in town was closed. A car would be helpful.

Attention to detail and very thoughtfully decorated. Even had a yoga mat and blocks. The lighting at night was romantic and the room was private. A beautiful setting that is authentic to Portugal

Everything was wonderful. The surroundings, the pool, the apartment. As soon as we stepped in behind the gate, it felt as though a reset button had been pressed. Christian has created a beautiful sanctuary for all who visit there. It was safe, quiet, and peaceful. Added bonus of some 4 legged kitties to share our time with. They were also very welcoming! We could not recommend this place and its hosts any more highly. It was a real pleasure to spend time in his fabulous, welcoming creation. Truly one of the best places we have stayed in our many travels.
