World Heritage Saltaire Stylish Cottage

Beautiful cottage, comfortable and cosy in a great location for us. Great facilities and thoughtful supplies left to welcome us.

Great location for all Saltaire has to offer: Salts Mill, the early music shop, walks along the canal, the train station and many good restaurants. The cottage design maximises the space and is very comfortable for two, with lovely soft furnishings and practical provisions. Communication with the owners was great and parking was no problem.

We didn’t need to light the woodstove, as it was warm enough with an occasional boost of the heating, but a little more wood would have been welcome - and looked nice on the hearth!

The cottage itself which was perfect for two. Very welcome basket of essentials and dinky milk bottle in the fridge. So good to read about previous tenants of the cottage which the hosts had prepared. Easy to locate and plenty of available parking. The location...peaceful at night and within walking distance of Salts Mill, Roberts Park, the railway station and (during the day) the bakery, coffee shop and convenience store.

1. It was difficult to find somewhere to eat after 7.45pm...not at the bar/restaurant in Roberts Park -The Boathouse (little on the menu available on the first night of our stay and a closed kitchen at 7.45pm on the second!), not at certain eateries on the top road (a hike for anyone with mobility problems) and no table available even at the Rumpus Burger. Only The Old Tram Shed (pizza) was still alive. Always thought that Don't tell Titus was open in the evening but not when we were in Saltaire. Even the fish and chip shop was closing as we arrived at 8.15. 2. Took the train from Saltaire to Ilkley to meet a friend for lunch but discovered that the link train from Shipley had left by the time we found the platform which was not straightforward. Thus we had an hour's wait on the platform along with others who had also missed the connection

There were lots of black hairs in the bathroom and the faux plant was full of dust.
