Dolfijn Hostel

The staff were lovely. Great room and value.

Nothing.

I stayed in all female room on first floor with views over the street and down to university.

Old building, noisy stairs. As I wasn’t staying for work, it was fine.

Very good location and nice old facade. I had the entire dormitory for myself as there were no other guests in that room (5 beds). There is a common space at the ground-floor (kitchen, fridge, tables). The staff was kind enough to welcome me very late (midnight).

Unfortunately I had no warm water in the douche. The toilet was not super clean, and the toilet lid was a bit loose.

The landlady was extremely polite and helpful.

I had a lot of money stolen from my bag. Not enough lockers for all guests.

Welcoming and helpful staff. Nice bulding. Nice decoration. Good facilities. Good location. Clean room. I really enjoyed staying there. Teşekkür ederim Daphne ! That's a really nice place you have there. Say hello to Paco from me :-) Stéphane

Room was stinky, pets (dog) in a dorm was allowed. It is bad experience.

The only things that were relatively good were the breakfast content (2 types of bread, ham, cheese, salami, boiled eggs, jam, and coffe), because figuring out when exactly the breakfast was felt like a riddle. The other aspect is the location.

I had an unimaginably terrible experience here. Upon my arrival, I found no one to attend me at the hostel. I had to wait over 20 minutes before someone could come. In the meantime, a person who was sitting at the entrance called someone over the phone and told him to come ( I thought it was someone from the staff, only to find out later that he was just a guest. This person barely spoke with me and told me to wait). I did not really know what I was waiting for, I had ZERO information from the hostel. After the 20 minutes, someone arrived and handed me some keys without saying much. I showed him my reservation but he apparently didn't care for that, nor what my name was. He then proceeded to dispatch me and attend other people. He later showed me briefly my room, and disappeared again afterwards for good. I was left with no information regarding the installations, WIFI, breakfast time, checkout time, lockers, main door code, NOTHING. On top of everything, the guy from the beginning was constantly rude and disrespectful to me, and only to find out later that he was also in my shared room. The room itself makes it a challenge to sleep. Tiny, bunker-like beds out of old metal, the room has only 1 socket. There were lockers but despite the room being almost empty, all of them were locked and closed. The manager also did not give me instructions for the front door, since the key you get at the beginning is only for the room door, not for the entrance. You need a special code to unlock the front door, which I got ONLY from the rude roommate. That is utterly unprofessional. There are no social rules or guides. I did not sleep at all, due to some of the disrespectful roommates constantly entering and leaving the room at 1 am, turning on and off the lights, combined with the loud street noises that easily go through the walls. I did not feel welcomed, and it was a very unpleasant experience.

- beautiful interior in a charming old building. - individual lockers with lock and key provided in the rooms for each guest. - friendly guests created a positive atmosphere.

- disorganised management: on arrival within check-in hours there was no manager. I had to wait over 20 minutes, and no information was given about Wi-Fi, breakfast, check-out, or the door code (I only found out from other guests!). - weak wifi, not enough plug sockets in rooms, and unfriendly, distant check in/check out process. Honestly I felt unwanted as a guest. - unless the management improves, I do not feel comfortable recommending the hostel.
