Gar`is hostel Maidan

The location is absolutely super, a short walk from Maidan. The entrance is 14 steps down from ground level, and you would expect a mouldy dungeon down there, but instead you enter a palace-like reception area, with ceiling height of about 3.5m! I would really like to know the history of this building. It has palace style details in the basement, and the toilets and showers are down an absurd, grand marble staircase, down one more level in a second basement! I really loved this place, and will certainly stay here again!

Having to negotiate the stairs down to the second basement every-time you need to go to the toilet, is of course a nuisance - but I'm willing to forgive that! Some small details, like the absence of a grab handle in the shower, and the lack of a handrail in the lower section of the stairs, could be fixed at almost no cost. The marble stairs end with a step twice as high as the others, for no obvious reason, and I had real problem with this! It could be easily fixed by adding one more step of the same height as the others.
