hilltop B&B where the views and the hospitality can’t be topped

Altera House is a very unique and charming little hotel with absolutely amazing views not only from our room but equally from the multiple terraces.At our arrival,Simone greeted us at the parking lot and even helped us carry our luggage up to the house.Our room was of a good size,tastefully furnished and cozy,and there was even a window in the bathroom. In the morning,to our surprise, the breakfast which included freshly baked croissants (!) was served on the big sunlit terrace for a great start to the day.In addition,Simone gave us lots of tips about possible activities and excursions in the surroundings.There is even the possibility to book boat tours to Cinque Terre via the hotel which we are definitely planning to do for our next stay.

A true gem – amazing location, heartfelt hospitality, and breathtaking views.

We stayed at Altera House in Ameglia and it was a wonderful experience. The location is absolutely stunning, with wide views over the Apuan Alps. From the rooms, the common spaces, and the terrace you can see the mountains in the distance, with the white marble shimmering like snow. It is a beautiful sight to wake up to, especially as the morning light fills the rooms. The sound of the church bells in the village adds to the charm — very authentic and peaceful. This is not your typical hotel experience. Altera House is run by a team of young people who have only recently started managing the place, and you can really feel the energy and care they put into it. Everything is simple but functional — you have what you need, and if anything is missing, they are always available, happy to listen and quick to help. It feels personal, not like staying in a big anonymous hotel. The atmosphere is warm and genuine, and it’s inspiring to see these young hosts building something with vision and heart. We felt very welcome and looked after. The village itself is charming, and within a short drive you can reach the seaside, enjoy boat tours, or head off for beautiful hikes in the surrounding hills. It is a perfect base for exploring the region while still experiencing the authenticity of an Italian village. For us, waking up to sunshine, mountains, and church bells made it truly special. We would definitely recommend Altera House to anyone looking for a real and heartfelt stay in Liguria.
