Sivan Paadham Nilayam Guest House

The room is complete with all the basic needs required for the stay. We booked for only one night. So we arrived in the evening as we had to leave for giri pradakshina during pournami night, we only stayed for few hours in the next morning before checking out. The host was kind and humble. He arranged the auto with driver for our commute. Room had hot water , AC , small studio kitchen with all utensils. Highly advisable this guest house if one is looking for a long stay in tiruvanamalai.

Nothing to dislike.

Guest house is beautiful, the view of the mountain is right there close and in view. Large spacious clean roof is a great place to do yoga or meditation or just sit, there is even a little awning for shade, and ample clothesline space and clothes pins. Room was very cozy and comfortable, very very clean and functional, AC and fans work well and bonus: we even had a very nice water purifier and a small but very functional kitchen, as well as a desk in the room, but without being cluttered. Bathroom is great and also has hot water heater. Each floor also has little patio sort of areas good for relaxing. Staff was super friendly, helpful, and kind - doing an excellent job. Location was excellent - far enough away from the Ramana Ashram and center of that part of town, so it is very quiet and has a lot of nature - but also close enough to walk to Ashrams and food, etc, within about 20 minutes (there are a few food places closer, also). Also, we made best friends with a dog close by and that was a real highlight! Do make sure to trek up to the Skandasramam and Virupaksha cave (access through Ramana Ashram) if you are able and like a good walk and a special place - its about 45mins to an hour to get there, and can be very hot. Make sure to bring water or snacks (though there are people selling along the way if you forget). Both these places are very quiet - amazingly people really maintain silence there for the most part - and very peaceful, good for deep meditation or reflection. They are also very beautiful, as is the walk, which is a special place to connect with the land and also offers great views of the town below. And, monkeys! Overall, very comfortable, clean, beautiful, good vibe, good value. We were only here three days, but I would have loved to have stayed for a month or more :)))

Surprisingly well furnished room with all the amenities. The kitchen even has a cutting board. The fridge is brand new, in fact the entire room is new including bedding and bathroom fixtures. There is a line for hanging laundry outside my room and there is good ventilation and the fan is fairly quiet operating. Have not tried the Aircon but it's there if needed. The water pressure in the bathroom is excellent. The bathroom is spotless and sparkling as new.

The location is too far away from ramashram to walk and you will need a bicycle or scooter or depend on tuk tuks which are parked a half kilometer away. There are scooters and bicycles available here for a reasonable price.

Great stay, kind owners, calm area. Super clean.

Some small light next to the bed would be nice...
