I paid a 1000 AED deposit for a 5‑night stay. It has been 14 days since I checked out, and I haven’t received the refund yet. What made it worse: after charging the deposit, the staff asked me to call my bank to check the transaction status. They didn’t seem to understand that the amount was only blocked, not actually taken, and should have been automatically released at check‑out. If I had known this would be so complicated, I would never have booked an apartment for such a short period. No hotel stay involves this kind of hassle, and a deposit of this size for just 5 nights is not reasonable.
