beautiful eco-beach house next to bird reserve

Location was fabulous, the quirkiness of ECO living was interesting and fun with darkness in the evening occasionally, comfy beds, powerful shower, kitchen well stocked with crockery and cutlery (just couldn’t find a bread knife😜) and we managed to squeeze in our travel cot. The reason we booked was to see the Snettisham Spectacular and we were not disappointed.. perfect place to watch was 10mins walk but we could also see it from the house itself .. just what we wanted.

Sadly there was a few cleanliness issues .. maybe it hadn’t been used for awhile as the dust was quite thick in places .. this obviously didn’t spoil our stay but we thought you should know ..

Birdwatchers heaven. Couldn't be better placed for viewing waders and seeing amazing murmurations. Even nearer than the RSPB car park. Any discomfort was forgiven immediately you looked out of a window, stepped outside on the walkway. Bring a scope, photography equipment (and a seat -you'll need it if you're older as we were).

The large double bed was built on a sort of high shelf that required a Fosbury Flop to enter for one person and a high step up, lurch and a wriggle for the other (hard if you're older) (worse getting up in the night). The chairs and sofa in the sitting room were lumpy and required effort to get out of. This latter is applicable if you don't have strong bendy knees. The varied lighting systems were a mystery and we often stepped boldly into the dark when entering at night. I think the price was high considering these factors.

Sunsets and sunrise views were absolutely amazing from this lodge. Owner texted to see everything was ok and also there was a complimentary bottle of wine for us, which was a lovely touch

We would have appreciated a welcome booklet with some instructions on lights, wifi, tv, and local amenities. It didn't ruin the stay as we worked it all out and the owner also texted.

Nice location but the road to get to it was terrible

Much smaller than it looks in the photos, especially the bedrooms which are very cramped. Items listed in the description as being there were not, e.g. electric kettle, tumble drier, laundry facilities, dining table in kitchen - it was a breakfast bar with just two high stools which I could not get onto as I am very short, and not enough seats for a family. Bed in main bedroom was very high - I could not climb onto it - and only accessible from one side so we had to use the other bedroom. Poor lighting, no main room lights, basically just table lamps and battery-operated tealights. Pre-booking information should state that it's off-grid and electric power is very limited - one evening everything just went off so we had no lights apart from the supplied battery tealights. No instructions e.g. how to light a gas cooker? How to switch on the light above the fireplace? View over lake not as shown in photos as there was a caravan parked there.
