1-Bedroom Balsam Lake Cottage #9

Being that close to the lake was very nice. Having access to dock our boat was also very good. The community exterior firepit was also very nice to meet the other cottagers. Our son really enjoyed the small swing set and the small playpark area.

Upon arrival we had to look for they key and after about 30 minutes we located it hanging inside the main entry to the left of the main locked door. It wasn't easy to locate. As this was mid September, the nights were very cold and the first night it went below 13 degrees inside the cabin and my family and I were very cold. Thankfully I was knowledgeable enough to know and understand how to ignite the propane furnace's pilot light after having to go outdoors at 3 am to turn the propane tank on. This should have been done already. Two days later I had to assist another older couple and their family to do the same thing inside their cabin as they also had gotten very cold. As for our furnace..... the electrical cord for the blower fan wasn't even long enough to reach a plug. Thankfully I had brought an extension cord or else we wouldn't have had the blower fan of the furnace. We believe this shouldn't have had to be done by the renters, and the pilot lights should have been on already. The other older couple and their family also experience a very back up Septic system, and their exterior septic tank had approximately half a foot of sewage on the top of the lids of the septic tank and a very foul smell.
