The Space:

Built in 1909, this classic cottage overlooking historic, unique Manitou Springs at the base of Pikes Peak, “America’s Mountain,” is a jewel of a short-term rental — the place you’ve been hoping to find to complete a perfect vacation or short-term stay. Experience shopping, restaurants, galleries, bars, and eight mineral drinking springs, each with its own mineral flavors and effervescence. For the adventurer, explore some of the best, most impressive and renowned hiking trails in the area including “the Manitou Incline” — this home promises memories, whimsy and an authentic Colorado experience.

Manitou Springs is known for its location at the base of Pikes Peak, and that means some steep hillsides within a box canyon. Surrounded by an original historic greenstone wall across the front, this home offers great appeal and off-street parking too! There is a private driveway on the side of the home for your convenience. To enter the house at the side entrance, walk past the charming, classic front porch that just invites some time to spend watching the world below with a cup of coffee or a local Colorado craft beer or cocktail.

Entering the home, you’ll be presented with a bright, warm and welcoming space that embraces it’s classic roots while also inviting modern practicalities too. The design is simple, with all of the rooms radiating outward from the living room. This central space is perfect for some serious relaxation or even an afternoon nap after the day’s adventures. There’s a dining table here with seating for four and just off the living room is the stylish, functional kitchen featuring quality cabinetry and a new stainless-steel refrigerator, gas stove and dishwasher along with a classic tin ceiling. As you finish your own culinary creations, you’ll be able to gaze out the window above the sink to the mountains across Ute Pass, and just beyond to the tips of the red rocks of Garden of the Gods.

The home’s single bedroom is just off the living room beyond French doors and offers king-size comfort to the weary traveler, well-appointed with hotel quality linens, cleaned and laundered professionally. The single bathroom is clean and inviting. There’s a full laundry for guest use, as well as desk space or a work area, to get some last minute projects completed (if you must)! Just outside the glass door from the kitchen is an exceptional outdoor living space, perfect for a meal in the fresh mountain air or an evening spent under the clear Colorado sky. There’s a BBQ grill for a steak or a portobello, and endless opportunities for some outdoor relaxation.

This home is charming and unique, but also practical and sensible, in a location that couldn’t be better. We invite you to browse our photos, ask us any questions, and book today!

Keyless entry and fast Wi-Fi for business travelers.

Guest Access:

Guests have access to the entire space. A permit for parking is required if you are bringing more than one vehicle. Please know the the parking office is closed on the weekends, so advance preparation is necessary. Please contact our team, and we would be happy to assist with this!

The Neighborhood:

Manitou Springs, just 10 minutes west of Downtown Colorado Springs, is the area’s attraction ground-zero, the center of activity for visitors and guests. Most of the most well-known and publicized outdoor wonders, the places that people come here to visit, are located here or close to here. This home is in the heart of Manitou Springs. The base of Pikes Peak is just up the road, right next to the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, the base of Barr Trail and the world-renowned Manitou Incline. Garden of the Gods Park, with its famous, towering red rock formations, is 5 minutes away by car or 10 minutes away by bicycle. There is so much to explore, all RIGHT HERE.

Manitou is also historic, and was one of the West’s first “vacation” and travel destinations. Manitou Ave, just two blocks down the hill from our home, was built in the 1870’s and offers exceptional dining, drinking, cafes, galleries, artisan shops, and whimsical, Western-original gems featuring Native American art, furs, trapping & leather supplies, and outdoor adventure equipment. Much of the town is built along Fountain Creek, which flows beautifully year-round. Named after its historic artisan spring, there are historic fountains around town where guests can fill a water bottle or sample a taste. There are also multiple wedding and event venues here housed in Victorian mansions that still inspire awe and wonder. Lastly, located where it is at the base of one of the highest peaks in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, there’s still a very real natural feel here and it’s not common to see traffic along Manitou Avenue held up by a crossing herd of deer, or the occasional black bear or mountain lion!

Most of Manitou Springs is within reasonable walking distance. Lyft and Uber are also available in this area. We recommend a vehicle when traveling in Colorado.

My Husband, and two kids stayed here for a weekend. It was a lovely stay. Gorgeous, quaint house. Loved swinging on the front porch and just taking in the views. We walked to restaurants, coffee shops and the arcade. Close to everything. I love taking spring water home with me! Great communication with owner. The bed was a bit stiff, just bring some extra pillows and blankets if you like softer bedding like me! Kitchen had everything you’d need to cook in. Would definitely stay here again!

This quaint, well maintained, remodeled, one bed-room, one bath home just a few blocks from everything downtown is an absolutely excellent alternative to hotels or motels for a quiet, enjoyable, private vacation. It is well equipped for relaxing, cooking or whatever you may want to do if you choose to spend a day or evening at the home instead of venturing out; is a short driving distance to most sites or events you'll probably want to see; and walking distance to downtown shopping and dining - (LOL but be aware it is a nice uphill walk to get home if you are tired or had a little too much to drink). A few things we would suggest to the owners especially for the colder or bad weather months (as we experienced when we first arrived) - the natural wood floors are beautiful - BUT, it would be NICE to have some type of rug, carpeting or non-slip surface by the back door until you can get your shoes off (we took the carpet mat from the back of my truck to use) when there is "ice and snow"!! With the "back or side door / porch" being the main entrance - it would be nice to have (and a great liability coverage) a handrail by the steps or stairs especially with the "ice and snow" like we had on our arrival. We ended up "using the pipe" - which is a natural gas pipe to avoid falling that first night and second day until we had the ice under control. They should also have a snow shovel available - we went to Walmart to get one to clear the walk.
