The apartment’s greatest strength is its setting. The terraces and breathtaking views are simply unforgettable and make this place incredibly special. Sitting outside in the morning or evening overlooking the mountains and coastline was pure magic. Francesco was an exceptionally kind and helpful host throughout our stay, and the apartment had excellent water pressure with consistently hot water, which was much appreciated after long days of walking. Pontone itself is a charming little village that can only be reached on foot (or by mule), which is part of its character. There are two restaurants, a small bar, and some of the friendliest locals we’ve met. We especially enjoyed having breakfast at Blue Bar each morning. There is also a bus connection to Amalfi—we usually walked down the stairs during the day and took the 8 p.m. bus back up in the evening, which worked well. That said, there are a few things future guests should know before booking.
The apartment does not have air conditioning. During our stay the humidity was around 66%, and despite keeping every window open day and night, there were several nights without even a slight breeze. Sleeping was difficult because of the heat. Since the windows had to remain open, mosquitoes were also a significant problem. There were no mosquito screens or other protection, and we left with countless mosquito bites. The climb to Pontone is beautiful but demanding, especially in hot, humid weather. If you’re staying here, pack as lightly as possible—you’ll thank yourself later. Being in a real village also means you’ll experience village life. We regularly heard dogs barking at night, which wasn’t unexpected. Unfortunately, during our first two mornings there was also very loud construction work that sounded like sledgehammers echoing through the valley, and on the second day there was additional noise from garden trimming. On the weekend we also heard fireworks and music from a local celebration, which actually added to the atmosphere and didn’t bother us. Overall, this is not a place for someone looking for a modern luxury stay. It’s for travelers who appreciate authenticity, spectacular scenery, and the feeling of living in a historic Italian mountain village. If the apartment had air conditioning and mosquito screens, our stay would have been close to perfect.

Meget flink og hjælpsom vært. Fantastisk udsigt og meget mere roligt og autentisk end Amalfi.

The view from the balcony is INCREDIBLE. Francesco, the host, was super welcoming and explained everything to us. Overall, the location allows for nice quite rest, with everything needed nearby. The steps are worth it.
The Wi-Fi could have been a bit better, but other than that all perfect.
