Wow! What an incredible place! The home was absolutely immaculate - and the character, charm and uniqueness of the property was off the charts. The home is located in a traditional Greek village but is centrally located on the island and easily accessible by bus or car to downtown Rethymno and all the tourist sites. We loved having it as a base from which to explore various beaches, hiking trails and museums -- all within 10 minutes to an hour drive. It is just a short drive down a hill to the main highway. Our hosts were incredibly kind and hospitable and clearly wanted to be sure we were happy. There was a coffee shop, bakery, restaurant and grocery store all within a short walk which we greatly appreciated. The rooftop deck was spectacular.
I honestly do not have any criticism of the property. Anybody that comes here needs to understand that it is not a hotel with a beach or a pool but that you are getting a unique beautiful historic home experience in a historic villa that is a real cultural Greek experience. As long as you have a car you can get to one of several beaches like Kamari, Rethymno or Platanes that are anywhere from 2.6 to 7 kilometers away.
