Location was very good. Close to public transport, cafes, shops and restaurants. Children also loved the frequent trams, buses, police cars and ambulances on the street below! We are too old for nightclubs, but there is one conveniently located just downstairs and around the corner. Apartment was larger than expected, including very high ceilings. Lots of lights, power sockets, large windows and a little balcony to watch the world go by... or the street vendors setting up their metal-framed stalls just below the apartment window early in the morning! Sofa bed was okay for two kids to share. And the bread knife is still in the kitchen! No problems with access to the building or key pad access to the apartment. A set of keys was provided inside the apartment as contingency - thankfully I didn't have to use them. I had asked for early check-in, which was able to be accommodated. I was very thankful for this! I also got advice for public transport from Roma Termini, which was much appreciated. (If coming from FCO airport, catch the regional train to Roma Trastevere, then tram to the stop outside the apartment). I was also advised that booking.com overcharged me for city tax, but that I need to resolve that with booking.com myself. But it was good advice nonetheless. Even with the things that could be improved, I would stay here again as I think it is good value for money!
Yes, the shower leaks onto the floor (as do many showers in Europe... someone needs to invent a bathroom floor waste drain!), and the bathroom has a damp smell, and there are no towel hooks in the bathroom, and there is some street noise, and the communication prior to the self check-in seemed confusing. But that does not take away from what was a very enjoyable stay in Rome! Detail on check-in: It is only done remotely, but requires you to provide personal information via an external link outside of booking.com. (I had no problem proving personal information as required by Italian law - it was just the method that I was being asked to provide it). Using whatsapp outside of booking.com message function is common in Europe. Another problem was that it asked me to pay city tax, which I had already paid through booking.com. So I was suspicious. Remote check-in provides flexibility, but I was very cautious to provide personal and financial details by clicking on a link in the booking.com messages, or communicating over whatsapp. Especially when the whatsapp number was different to the number displayed on the booking. Booking.com policy is to never click on an external link or communicate outside of the booking.com messaging function. (I have a different booking with booking.com where my details have been taken and someone is sending me emails and whatsapp messages along me to provide personal and financial information.) But in the end I did click on the link to provide some personal details, just not the financial details as I had already paid city tax. I provided the remaining personal information through booking.com messaging function to be safer. Along with this, my lack of Italian did not help matters!

I loved the location. So close to everything. It is in a beautiful part of the city. The apartment is really lovely. Very modern and comfortable. I loved being so close to shops, restaurants, and bars. With lots of choice. Easy to enter upon arrival. Could walk to all the sights. Would highly recommend.
