‘Dad, have you got the keys?’ On day 1, after having spent barely 1 hour in the apartment, that terrible question came up as we had just closed the door of our apartment to head for the Edeka supermarket. We had stupidly locked ourselves out! Humiliating? YES! Total disaster? NO! In less than 3 minutes our host, Stefan Greif, came to the rescue, friendly and polite, not showing any trace of ‘Mein Gott! How long will I continue to rent this place to such utter nitwits!’. And we most honestly thank you for that, Stefan! The rest of our stay at Ferienwohnung WineTime was impeccable: lovely decorated apartment (thank you, Sandra Greif!), nice kitchenette, free choice of 3 terrases to linger about. In the evening a short walk of 15 minutes to reach Restaurant Fährhaus or Trattoria Bellavista for wonderfully delicious food. The HL Asia Gourmet however was rather disappointing, and we didn’t take the risk of venturing into the Greek Restaurant Akropolis. For hiking we highly recommend to march the 10 km to the impressive Klause Kastel-Staadt, which happens to be closed on Tuesday, but if you drop down a wall of about 2 m and manage to climb up again, you have the place entirely for yourselves. Other walks to Warsberg/Ayle and to Irsch will be quite satisfying to your leggs as well. So, in short, Ferienwohnung WineTime really deserves a 10/10!

This having been my second visit to Saarburg in 12 years, I fear that I might never return to see the Wasserfall and medieval watermills again, a thought which fills me with sadness!
