The only thing was the communication with the "property" . I dont think we ever did communicate with the property directly. First I tried to ask a question after booking, and got a very strange response , in very poor English, from someone who seemed unfamiliar with the property altogether. This made me very nervous that this could be a scam. IT happens.. Then I tried to use the "Email the property" option, through booking.com, and I got a pop up that said "You cannot message the property because someone else booked for you" ????? Another concerning thing... Then I called BOoking.com directly, based in Netherlands?? and got a woman whom I could barely understand, She said the booking was legitimate, and then I received a response from someone "standing " as the owner. I was so very concerned.. It all seemed so strange. So maybe the owner did outsource that part of the management, but it was poorly done for sure. Then they said that we would receive check in instructions on the day that we would fly in.. by email, and that that was the only thing that would be emailed, we could communicate otherwise through text, so after that I didnt check my email ( on vacation) I did try to ask questions, about beach access, about use of the bicycles,and kayaks, and got no response for 4 days.. I asked about check out procedure, like stripping the beds, dishes, etc. they did say to just run the dishwasher and leave towels on the floor, so we did, but after checking out, I found an email with further instructions that we didnt know about. One more thing that seemed very sketchy, there was only one review of the rental, and it was weird, Said 5 stars, vacaton with family and children, then also said it was for a business trip for a solo traveler!!!!... Red flags, but minus that stress, was an incredibly wonderful place to stay. If we do it again, will book another way..
