A hearty “Moin” and “Welcome” to our renovated vacation farm—nestled in an idyllic orchard in the quaint village of Upleward. Upleward is located between Emden and Greetsiel and is characterized by various very well-preserved historic buildings that give this East Frisian circular village its own unique charm.
Our apartments in the front building of the vacation farm feature high ceilings with original exposed beams throughout. The historic block-frame windows and shutters were handcrafted to match the original design and complete the look of this historic Gulfhof, a protected landmark. The former barn wing houses bright and spacious apartments with floor-to-ceiling windows. All vacation apartments are individually designed, modern, and furnished with great attention to detail, offering a relaxing view of the green spaces with mature trees from the terrace.
Built in 1851, the Gulfhof BOOMGAARDEN had stood uninhabited for 40 years and was already showing signs of weathering. Thanks to the initiative of East Frisian historic preservation enthusiasts, the building was extensively renovated and converted into a charming vacation farmstead. The preservation of the original structure and the retention of its distinctive details give all the apartments a unique character.
An integral part of the farm is an extraordinary collection of apple, pear, plum, and mirabelle cherry trees, and a communal fire pit enhances the recreational value year-round.
Our vacation farm is the ideal starting point for a wide range of activities: hiking, biking, or kayaking in Krummhörn; water sports in the Wadden Sea; cultural excursions to popular nearby towns such as Greetsiel, Pilsum, and Emden; or even day trips to the East Frisian Islands. The dike and the dry beach right nearby also invite you to linger.

Enjoy your very own dream vacation! This bright, barrier-free 65 m² apartment with a spacious terrace (complete with patio furniture and a grill) is located on the first floor of the Gulfhof, which is nestled in a beautiful apple orchard. The successful blend of old and new, high-quality materials such as solid wood floors with underfloor heating, and carefully selected furnishings round out the apartment’s exclusive character.
In the fully equipped kitchen, you’ll find everything you need to make cooking on vacation a pure joy—an induction cooktop, a pyrolytic oven, baking pans, a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, Nespresso machine, dishwasher, and much more.
The extendable dining table is perfect for celebrating with friends and family. On the cozy sofa, you can relax with a good book or a movie on the 50-inch TV while enjoying free Wi-Fi.
We’ve also thought of our younger guests with a travel crib, a Tripp Trapp high chair, children’s tableware, and more.
The apartment features two bedrooms—a spacious master bedroom with a heavenly double bed, mattresses in various firmness levels, and a vanity table—and another bedroom with a bunk bed that sleeps up to three people, along with books and plenty of toys. In the bathroom, a walk-in shower provides additional comfort and barrier-free accessibility.
An on-site parking space is available for your car.
For longer stays, weekly interim cleaning of the apartment is available upon request for an additional fee.

Important Note Regarding the Travel Crib
Please understand that we do not provide mattresses for the travel cribs for hygienic reasons.
If needed, please bring a suitable 60x120 cm mattress with you. The lightly padded, foldable, and wipe-clean base is, of course, included.



Check-in is from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., and check-out is from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
