Cooking and Nature - Emotional Hotel

We’ve stayed here around ten times over the years, spending several weeks in total while working in the area, and overall it’s still a place we would recommend. The hotel enjoys a peaceful rural setting, perfect for relaxing. The rooms are individually designed with a simple, understated style and a strong focus on sustainability, using many local and recycled materials. The unheated pool is beautiful, especially on warm days, and the outdoor fire pit creates a lovely atmosphere in the evenings. Breakfast is very good, with the homemade cakes being the absolute highlight. The only small downside is that only filter coffee is included. Espresso is available all day from the honesty bar for €1.50, which is perfectly reasonable. The biggest area for improvement is the service. Apart from the kitchen staff, the team often seems rather unmotivated and rarely engages with guests. This may partly be due to limited English skills, but overall it doesn’t feel like a genuine hospitality experience. As returning guests, we were also surprised that there is no recognition of repeat visitors. Even after mentioning at check-in that we know the property very well, we were given the standard introduction instead of a simple “welcome back” or being welcomed to our favourite room. Small gestures like these would make a big difference. That said, if you’re looking for a quiet, sustainable retreat in the countryside with a great breakfast, this hotel is definitely worth considering.

Staff are exceptional. Caring & gracious hosts. Each individual offering their best to the guest. Especially loved their little touches. Like honesty bar, handmade cookies, lovely desserts and thoughtful emails prior to us arriving.
