Central Southampton Flat

The place was clean and the facilities were good

The WiFi was weak at times and barely worked at night

Location

The flat has been nicely renovated with a modern well-equipped kitchen and a lovely bathroom. Rooms are reasonably spacious. It is within quite easy walking distance of the city centre and the docks.

Guests need to know that the location of the flat is in a quite socially disadvantaged part of Southampton. St Mary's town centre is shabby, run down and dirty. I wouldn't be keen to walk there at night time. The rear (living area) of the flat is on a busy street and there is a live, late-night music venue across the street. The building that houses the apartment is also rather shabby and not well maintained. Evidence of this is the lift that has obviously been out of order for some time. Guests need to know that the flat is on the second floor, meaning that luggage needs to be carried up 4 flights of stairs I wouldn't consider staying there if you are not fit and strong (and don't have a heart condition). Staff at the managing agency are quite inflexible, unhelpful and not particularly friendly. Our booking confirmation showed check-out time as 11am. The agency refused to acknowledge this and insisted we check out by 10am. They finally relented after documentary evidence and reluctantly agreed to let us stay until the cleaner arrived (SO generous).
