Hillside Hideaway

We rested in this accommodation with our family. The accommodation is wonderful, everything is clean, comfortable, there is everything you need for a comfortable stay. The woman who met us was very friendly, provided all the necessary information and recommendations. Excellent location, very beautiful beaches nearby. We are very pleased that we chose this accommodation for our vacation.

The location is nice and quiet with a garden that is well maintained. The house is spacious for two couples, with two bathrooms and two bedrooms with big beds. There are nice beaches quite close, but try to avoid Pefkochori by car as it is almost impossible to find a parking space and the road gets really really busy. Some of the houses in the complex are ocuppied by permanent residents that are quite nice if they don’t yell at each other. We stayed next door to an elderly couple that had some differences. No physical violence, but still… There is a nice terrace where we ate everyday with good chairs and a big table. The kitchen can be used for cooking but it needs some gear from home if you really like to cook.

Here comes the nasty part. The first night we found there is no water at about 11 pm. We asked the host for help and she told us that this is normal in Greece because of water shortages and that the next night we will have water until midnight. Big surprise, at about 10pm, there was no water. We had just arrived from a trip and couldn’t shower, which made us get quite angry. Again, we asked for help and were told that the owner tries to connect us to some private water tank, etc. Nothing really happened until the last days, when we got to sleep and there was water. After the first few days, we got used to the schedule and started coming home to shower at about 6pm, to make sure that we can sleep well. Girls used the toilets and could only flush once during the night, while boys… embraced nature. We understand that there are problems with water. Our problem is that we were not told so that we could just know beforehand. We don’t really like surprises like this. Another downside of the location is that it only has only one air-conditioning unit upstairs, where there are two bedrooms. We were two couples and we had to sleep with our doors open to enjoy cold air during the night. It was almost like sharing a bedroom. No privacy allowed. The ac downstairs works well.
