Little Malang Hostel小玛瑯青年旅舍

This hostel was amazing, it was one of the best places we’ve stayed in Asia and we’ve been travelling for 9 months. It runs very smoothly and they’re very organised and unbelievably helpful. The rooms are really comfortable, great beds, air con, bathrooms are nice and always clean. Location is nice, it has a food market outside every night which I was worried would be noisy but the rooms are incredibly sound proofed, I didn’t hear a thing. No loud call to prayer here either which is rare for Java. You can get a good nights sleep! The best thing about this hostel though is the sisters that run it. Don’t be fooled by their stern way of talking, they are the kindest people, who above everything want and do what’s best for their guests. They helped us use the local angkot buses, to find vegetarian food, to use the TV in the common room to watch football, to plan activities in Malang, to make sure we knew which train station to be at, even cooked our noodles for us! Also, Gabriel gives a free tour of a nearby Chinese Buddhist temple which was great. Common areas at the top and bottom of the building are great too, a rooftop to peer down at the night market and also you can wash your clothes for really cheap. Breakfast of toast, peanut butter, jam, fruit, coffee is really nice and simple meal to start the day with. Great hostel, would definitely recommend!

Nothing really

Las camas son súper cómodas y limpias. Se agradece el café, el pan y los plátanos antes de empezar tus tours. Tienen lavadora y jabón en la terraza.

Hacía mucho frío en la habitación, podías graduar el AC pero a lo mejor para otros guest es bien. Una solución podría ser tener mantas más gruesas. La ducha y el retrete están en el mismo lugar con poco espacio.

The best & cleanest hostel I have stayed in Java so far including out of the three places I stayed in Malang. The owners are so lovely and really go above and beyond to answer any questions, organise trips and to make you feel at home. The beds & pillows were super comfy & felt brand new. The showers were hot & there was a washing machine you could use for 25k (amazing after finishing the East Java trip). Great location close to the train station & an easy grab ride to all the sights in the city.

The aircon was almost too good but otherwise perfect!
