We took a day trip to Galle from Colombo and stayed at the hotel. The best part about the hotel is its location in central Galle Fort. There are several food and souvenir options around, although marked up quite high due to this being a tourist area. We booked a standard deluxe room and were upgraded to a superior room. The room itself was very cosy and had everything you would need. The breakfast was a bit disappointing and so were the options at the bar

Great hotel. Excellent breakfast. Great staff.
However, food (ala carte lunch/dinner) at the restaurant is extremely underwhelming if you're vegetarian.

I recently stayed at The Merchant, and the overall experience was exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel genuinely welcome, offering impeccable service throughout my stay. The room was stylish, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, striking the perfect balance between luxury and coziness. Every detail, from the quality of the linens to the curated in-room touches, reflected a high standard. The on-site amenities and dining were equally impressive, adding to the sense that everything had been carefully considered. The Merchant truly exceeded my expectations — I’d return in a heartbeat.
