Bangtao Tropical Residence Resort and Spa

Very disappointing experience. We left only two hours after arrival because the situation was unacceptable for us. The main problem was the construction right next to our room. There was a crane just a few meters from the window, with noise and workers very close by, which completely affected privacy and comfort. This was not clearly communicated at the time of booking, as the construction notice was buried within detailed terms. The room facilities were also below expectations. The air conditioning was not working effectively, the mattress felt very worn and uncomfortable, and the in-room telephone was not functioning. The reception staff were polite, but the overall handling of the situation was very disappointing. When we raised our concerns and requested a refund, there was no flexibility or willingness to find a solution. We were even offered to move to another room at an additional cost, which felt unreasonable given the circumstances. At that point, we decided to leave and accept the financial loss, and booked another hotel instead. There was clearly no room for negotiation. What made the situation more stressful was that the manager escalated things by involving the police and alleging that we had been violent, which is completely untrue. We was frustrated, but not aggressive. This made the experience feel unnecessarily intimidating. Because of the construction, the room issues, and how the situation was handled, we chose to leave shortly after check-in. To be fair, although the hotel feels quite old, the room itself was clean and spacious. If you plan to be out most of the time, this might not be a major issue. Think carefully before booking. If everything goes smoothly, it may be fine—but if there is an issue, be aware that you may be expected to accept it without resolution.
