Himalayan homestay opposite to white waterinn hotel, Tipa Road, mecleodganjj

The price is really good and was actually only 187 rupees, if I recall the exact figure correctly. The location is not too bad if you don't mind a nice hike. Scenery is nice, but that's true of any hotel in the area.

The owner, Jackamoor, immediately tried to steer me away from the 187 price that was quoted on Boooking.com. He made it sound almost as if it wasn't available. As a matter of fact, if I didn't remain very persistent, I wouldn't have even gotten that price. The room is extremely basic and I suffered a lot of insect bites. Even the local monkeys can get into your room and steal food. If you use the bathroom down the hall, it is quite dirty and unwelcoming. I remember that he didn't offer a sheet until I asked for one, which you will, of course, need up in the cold mountains (even in summer, when I was there). Also, Jackamoor seemed rather curiously, even persistently, interested in giving a massage, claiming that he was a professional at this.
