This unassuming, over 200-year-old house—a listed historic building—stands in the historic center of a small Sardinian mountain village near the central-western coast of Sardinia. The village, called Magomadas, sits on a small hill and is surrounded by nature. The sea and the picturesque town of Bosa are just an 8-minute drive away. Although the village is very small, it is well-known for its Malvasia, a sweet white wine that is grown exclusively here worldwide.
Inside, the house has undergone a very extensive renovation. The owners—a master carpenter and an architect—have created modern spaces in harmony with the region’s traditional architectural style, using historical building materials and paying great attention to detail. Exposed masonry was partially revealed, and the entire building services system and the bathrooms were renovated. The walls were finished with eco-friendly lime plaster and lime paint; all doors and windows were replaced using traditional construction methods with solid chestnut wood. The floors in the living areas feature brushed, flame-treated solid oak parquet, while the hallways and bathrooms have porcelain tile flooring. Traditional historical building elements were used for the ceilings. Chestnut wood ceilings were installed on the first floor, and on the upper floor, typical Sardinian reed ceilings were combined with round chestnut beams.
The house is divided into two stories: The first floor features a large living area with an open kitchen and a small terrace adjoining it, as well as a hallway and a half-bath with a bidet, washing machine, and dryer. The upper floor features two large bedrooms, each with a double bed, as well as a small anteroom with a sofa bed and two bathrooms with showers. One of the bathrooms is an ensuite accessible directly from the bedroom and is equipped with a natural stone shower.
The house has been furnished to a very high standard throughout. The bathrooms feature Gessi fixtures, floor-mounted rain showers, and natural stone sinks. The building’s lighting was designed by a lighting designer, and several designer lamps were installed. In addition, there is a TV in every bedroom and in the living room, all of which are connected to the Starlink system (TV viewing is only possible via streaming or the internet!). Starlink offers super-fast satellite internet with unlimited data. This makes it possible to work here as usual while enjoying the beautiful surroundings. (For example, if the family is on vacation but one parent needs to work. Or if you simply want to relocate your home office to Sardinia.) A game console is also available.
The bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning, and for the cooler seasons, a beautiful natural stone wood-burning stove has been installed in the living room, while the bedrooms feature Swedish wood-burning stoves. In addition, wall-mounted heating is installed in the living room and underfloor heating in the bathrooms. Hot water is generated by an air-source heat pump and is supplied at a consistent pressure and temperature in accordance with German standards.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a portafilter cappuccino/espresso machine, a Bodum coffee maker, an electric stove and oven, a large dishwasher, ceramic dishes, wine glasses, and more. Nothing is missing here, and the bathroom is also fully stocked with a hair dryer, flat iron, and other essentials. Adapter plugs are also provided, and some outlets have been fitted to accommodate German plugs.
The centerpiece of the living room is the solid oak table, over 3 meters long, which invites you to spend lovely evenings here with friends—or to eat at one end and play games at the other. Board games like Settlers, Monopoly, etc., are available. There are also several German-language travel and hiking guides available to help you explore the island.
