Pono Kai's pool and spa will be closed January 6-31, 2026 for the installation of the new pool deck fencing.
The Kapaa Public Pool, located less than one mile from the resort, is open to the public.

You’ll be just a leisurely stroll away from restaurants, food trucks, local shops, and a grocery store. Adventure awaits with bicycle rentals right next door and an array of water activities like canoeing, kayaking, and surfing all within a quick 5-minute drive! Kapaa is also located on the East side of the island, meaning you are only about a half an hour to both the North and South shores.
Sleeping Arrangements: King size bed in the bedroom and Queen pull out sleeper sofa in main living space.

Unwind on the plush sofa, watch your favorite shows on the flat-screen TV, or step out onto the private lanai to soak in the beautiful resort gardens. I was so impressed with the spacious Pono Kai property and maintenance. Nice landscaping, elevator, heated pool and HOT tub. Employees were all so friendly and polite. Everything worked in my CLEAN room. Friendly guests and owners. Large parking lot, but buildings spaced out over acres, so very quiet. I wish I had found the Pono Kai to rent during my entire 3 weeks, Saving transition days and service fees. Directly on bike path and ocean. I biked or walked every day...food trucks and downtown Kapaa.

Close to shopping and food trucks, well maintained grounds with walking paths to bike path and pool and hot tub was great. Only thing you have to get used to are the roosters that start crowing at around 5 am.
