About this apartment rental
Pono Kai Resort is located on oceanfront/beachfront property. Our third-floor garden view condo has a fully equipped kitchen, 1 bedroom and 1 full bathroom. The bedroom has a king size bed. There is also a pull-out queen sleeper sofa in the living room, fully stocked with linens, towels, kitchen utensils, and appliances. We manage several condos at Pono Kai as well as the entire property, so the resort's housekeeping and front desk are available with this condo.
The resort is located in the historic town of Kapaa, Kauai. You can catch the sunrise in the morning over the Pacific Ocean or even see whales during migrating season. The resort is within walking distance of restaurants, boutiques, shopping and grocery stores.
The bathroom is furnished with starter soap, shampoo and conditioner, along with a hair dryer. There is an iron and ironing board within the unit as well.
The Pono Kai Resort has many amenities on site. Pickleball, basketball, exercise room, shuffleboard, putting greens, croquet court, cornhole, ping pong, board games, just to name a few. You can rent bicycles close by and we are located within 5 minutes from water activities such as; swimming, canoeing, kayaking, surfing, etc...
There are BBQ's located throughout the resort and coin operated laundry facilities located within each building.

This property was clean and updated. However, there were a few issues. First, the pool was not open when we were there. I feel this is something that should have been communicated before our arrival. Second, it is not on the beach or within walking distance of a beach. There is a path behind the property where you can see the ocean, but that is all. When we arrived, and I asked about the beach, the front desk guy looked at me like I was crazy. He said you couldn't swim there, and we would need to drive 45 minutes to the beach. He made no mention of a beach within walking distance, so if there is one, we didn't find it. There was a beach that I think you could get to by walking, maybe 15-20 minutes down the path; however, I didn't see anyone swimming there. It also looked a little sketchy. On the positive side, this forced us to get out and explore. The last thing I would note is that the bedroom does not have AC. There is a unit in the family room/kitchen, but when we arrived, it was warm in the unit, and there was a big fan in the bedroom. I was told this is how all the units are. It did cool down and wasn't as warm after we had the air on for a few hours. I think the resort should have turned the air on earlier than they did for our arrival. All in all, the place was nice, but I was very disappointed in the pool and beach access.
