About this cottage rental
GROUND FLOOR LIVING The ground floor comprises a fantastic open-plan living area with comfy sofas, a magnificent stone fireplace with a wood-burning stove, a dining table seating over 16, a superb designer kitchen with two, two door ovens, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, wine cooler, air fryer, slow cooker, and granite work surfaces. A recent addition is a fantastic conservatory / garden room. There is a cloakroom with toilet and wash basin, plus a utility area with washing machine and tumble dryer. The cottage has underfloor heating, finished with lovely, tiled floors, rugs, contemporary furnishings and decorations.
GROUND FLOOR SLEEPING To the left of the hallway are two spacious bedrooms. The first is a double bedroom with a single profilind bed. The en-suite has both a bath and level access shower. The second has a double and a single bed. The large en-suite has a wet-room style walk-in shower area, which is wheelchair and disabled friendly. It has a large washbasin that you can actually get a wheelchair under and a large, illuminated mirror that comes down to the basin, so that you can see yourself in it, whilst in a wheelchair. We have also installed stylish grab-rails by the toilet and a large fold-down seat within the shower.
FIRST FLOOR The first floor comprises a large family bedroom, containing a superking-size bed, and a single bed, with en-suite shower room. There are also 2 double bedrooms – one with an en-suite shower room and the other with an en-suite bathroom. The sleeping accommodation is completed by a spacious triple bedroom (with three single beds), with an en-suite shower room, plus there is a small single bedroom especially suitable for a child.
COTTAGE GARDEN To the rear of the cottage is a raised decked area, looking out into woodland with outdoor dining furniture and a private garden where you will see and hear the resident woodpeckers! We have recently added a hot tub which creates an ideal spot in which to enjoy the afternoon sun and sunsets. We have also added an outdoor bar area at the side of the cottage, including outdoor fridge, BBQ and Pizza oven. This offers great views across to the coast and towards the Lake District, and a huge fire-pit built into a seating area at the front.

We booked Woodpecker and Mole End cottages for a family get together and birthday celebration over the early May Bank Holiday. Everyone had a fantastic time! The cottages were delightful and extremely well appointed. The children loved the play area, tennis court and visiting the horse and chickens. We used the Pepperpot Catering Company, as recommended by the owners, for our celebration meal and they were amazing with delicious food and excellent service. We also catered for ourselves and found the facilities really easy to use and everything we needed was available. The information about the area was really helpful. Some of us walked to Scorton while others drove and we met at the Barn cafe. Some of also drove to Beacon Hill Country Park for amazing views across to Blackpool Tower and the Lakes. The whole family (16 of us) agreed that it had been a memorable and delightful weekend and no-one wanted it to end.
The information provided before arrival was really comprehensive and Beth kindly showed us around after booking to get our bearings and plan bedrooms. All in all a highly recommended venue and location.

Another lovely Easter break at Woodpecker. We have been coming here for many years - a family gathering with 3 generations. As always the owners are very helpful and accommodating - communication is never an issue. The grandchildren spent many happy evenings in the hot tub - so did a few mums and dads. The house is very well equipped and maintained with plenty of space for all the family. The children enjoy using the outdoor pizza oven and the barbecue area was well used as we were fortunate with the weather. One of our grandchildren is disabled so the ground floor bedrooms are just what we need. Woodpecker Cottage is an excellent property for all the family.
