About this house rental

This home is conveniently located between Fort Bragg (5 minutes away) and the Village of Mendocino (10 minutes away). Located 1/4 mile from the beach, the home is also close to state parks (Jug Handle, Russian Gulch, Redwood Forest, Van Damm and McKerricher) which are especially great for hiking, biking and beach access.

The home is very private, set on two wooded acres. A grassy yard opens into a meadow surrounded by redwoods, pine and fir. The house features cathedral ceilings and warm wood floors throughout, a completely equipped kitchen, cable TV/VCR, CD player, telephone, toasty wood-stove with a glass window for dinners in firelight, and a large back&side deck with outdoor dining and a barbecue for grilling.

This Mendocino house has a king, a queen, and two trundle beds (each of these beds can sleep two singles or make into queen size beds). All firewood, linens, kitchen supplies, and bedding are provided for your convenience as well as a washer and dryer. Portable crib is available.

The house and deck are wheel chair accessible but the bathroom is not large enough to accommodate a standard wheel chair.

The home is unassuming from the outside. However inside it is very homey, and the windows and skylights make it feel as though you are part of the natural surroundings. Great kitchen amenities. Very comfortable king bed.Very clean.Quiet and private. Just what we needed!

The house was perfect for my friend and me. We loved having the fireplace to warm up the place. The kitchen was well stocked. There were plenty of towels in the bath. The beds were very comfy.

The cabin was perfect for the 5 of us. Two adult couples and one toddler. The property is fun for littles to explore. The house is cozy and well stocked. My only criticism is extremely minor. There were only 3 hangers in each bedroom closet. I like to hang my close when I travel and 3 hangers didn’t go far. We would definitely book here again!

We enjoyed our time in this charming home. Everything was very clean. The kitchen was well supplied with dishes, utensils, and anything we needed to cook when preparing meals. It was always nice to come back to this very quiet retreat in the afternoon but still close enough to get into town if we wanted. Very calming to look out in the yard.

We had a great stay here! The place was very clean, well-stocked, and had everything we needed. Unfortunately, we got into a car crash on our way to the house, but arriving at such a peaceful and comfortable space really made a tough day a lot better. It felt like the perfect place to decompress and reset. We would definitely stay here again—highly recommend!

What a magical gem this place is! My family of four (2 adults, 2 children) absolutely loved this home and property. The beds were super comfortable, there were plenty of sheets, blankets, and towels. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, glassware, etc. We loved the selection of board games and their House Folder had a ton of information on what to do around the area. The amount of windows and skylights in the home brought in natural lighting througought the day and we loved having the windows open to allow the cool breeze to flow throughout. In the evening, we enjoyed cozy fires in the wood burning stove. Our favoirte part however, was the grounds! This was just magical! We had so much fun playing with our imagination in this beautiful "realm" of redwoods, cypress, blackberries, rhododendrons, huckleberry, foxglove, daisies, ferns, pine, and so much more. These memories will stay with us forever. We will definitely be back to stay here again! Thank you Matt and Cathy for sharing this special place!

I've stayed in many rental homes over the years and have found this home to be the most comfortable and well appointed of any I have ever stayed at. There is no unnecessary clutter and it is easy to make yourself comfortable here. It is very organized and you can easily find anything you need within the home. We recommend this home without any hesitations.

What a great experience! We has so much fun exploring the property. The home was appointed quite well...everything from comfy beds, very functional kitchen and a washer/dryer which is always a plus on a beach vacation. We enjoyed the peace of being in the country but still 10 minutes from everything in town. Having a state beach less than a mile away was great! In the evenings we enjoyed a fire in the wood stove that had plenty of firewood waiting for us. Communication with the hosts was perfect. Thank you for sharing your vacation home with us Matt and Cathy! Looking forward to our next visit.

We had an amazing stay at this cabin! It was the perfect getaway for our small family. The cabin had everything we needed—comfortable, well-equipped, and incredibly cozy. The main room was spacious and open, with an incredible fireplace that made our evenings so relaxing.The patio deck was a highlight, offering a peaceful spot to unwind and watch the many beautiful birds around. We loved the quiet and secluded setting, which made for a truly peaceful escape. Plus, it was just a quick drive to the beach, making it easy to enjoy both relaxation and adventure.We would love to come back again!

Came to stay here for a 3 day weekend with my father. We both found everything comfortable and while it took a while to heat the place up, it was very cozy once things got to a warmer temp. This house is a 10 mins drive away from a lot of great areas of Mendocino and Fort Bragg which was very convenient. We also appreciated the board game selection!One large issue for us was that the water was dark yellow. Our first notice of this was with the toilet because it looked like someone had forgotten to flush, but really that was the color of the tank water. But when we realized this was also the same color that came out of the sink and shower, that gave us a little bit of ick. It made us opt out of using the coffee maker or drinking the tap water in general. I'm assuming this is a rust issue or something similar. We took some video/photos of this but I don't see an option to attach here. If this had been fixed it would have been a 5/5 for us!

We had such a good time in this cozy place. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed. Plenty of space in the backyard and patio around the house. It is located close to Ford Bragg, ocean and forrest : all what we wanted :)

Once we got the house warm it was nice and cozy. Loved the upgrades in the kitchen, especially the coffee maker. Bring in drinking water.Will book again! This was our third time here. Very reasonable rates and lovely grounds surrounding the house. Also no HOST house hovering nearby!

We all loved this home. Absolutely beautiful, rustic yet with comfort and beautiful design, the natural landscape and proximity to jug handle and Fort Bragg were all totally optimal. The little children felt at home and slept soundly. I think we will try to come back here before too long.Just a side note for our hosts: we did find an animal carcass in the front/side yard by the swings. It seemed to be in a state of advanced decay. Not sure if there is anything to be done about that, but I would want them to know.

We loved this property because of its location. Close to everything we love about the Mendocino Coast: Restaurants and shopping in Fort Bragg, Noyo Headlands and Harbor, Mendo Botanical Gardens, Jughandle Reserve, Pt Cabrillo Light, and the village of Mendocino itself.
