About this house rental

Custom Lindal home built in 2006, located on 18 pristine acres in the mountain residential community of Wilderness Ranch, just northeast of Boise off of Highway 21 on the way to historic Idaho City. Spectacular views of the entire river valley and unparalleled opportunities to see a wide variety of wildlife, including deer, elk, fox and black bears. A redwood deck running along the entire back of the house offers views of the surrounding wilderness from a variety of vantage points.

Inside enjoy central air conditioning or a wood-burning fireplace (depending on the season, of course!), a 42-inch plasma television with basic DirecTV subscription, a VCR/DVD player, an Alexa smart speaker and a collection of board games. Wireless internet is available.

The kitchen is out-fitted with top-of-the-line GE appliances, including a Monogram double oven, a Profile gas stove and a side-by-side refrigerator with ice and water in the door. It is also fully stocked with all the dishes, flatware, pots, pans, appliances and cooking utensils needed to prepare and serve any meal. A counter-high hard-wood dining table provides seating for up to six.

Sleeping accommodation includes a cathedral ceiling master bedroom with access to the deck and a king-size Simmons ComforPedic bed. The master bath has a soaking bath tub with a large picture window providing a great view of the wilderness as well as a separate large shower made from rock slate. The second bedroom features two high-quality twin beds and a full-size futon bed with ensuite bathroom. The third bedroom doubles as an office, with a twin-size day bed. A light-weight twin-size roll-away bed is also available, allowing a total of seven to be accommodated comfortably.

Wilderness Ranch has privately maintained dirt roads and the road leading to the house is narrow and steep in some places. While a two-wheel drive vehicle is fine for accessing the house most of the year, you must have a four-wheel drive vehicle with studded snow tires and/or chains during the months when there is likely to be significant snow on the mountain (November through March). There can be significant climatic differences between Boise and Wilderness Ranch. Even when there is no snow on the ground in Boise, the roads at the ranch can be snow covered and icy. Also during periods of heavy rain (spring and fall), the roads can become muddy and difficult to transverse. No refunds will be given for poor road conditions or inclement weather.

Beware that cellphone coverage at the ranch is spotty or not available at all. However the house does have a landline phone.

Please note the map may show Bogus Basin ski area as close-by, but those roads are not open in winter. To get to Bogus Basin, you need to drive into Boise and then back out. Trip takes about 90 minutes.

Final note: Pets and domestic animals of any kind are not allowed anywhere on the property, inside or outside the house. Violation of this rule will subject you to immediate removal, forfeiture of your security deposit and additional charges.

You know how usually things look better in a picture? NOT the case w/this house! The pics didn't do it justice. The neighbors were great (elk, deer, wild turkeys;). Kitchen had everything you need. The primary shower was beautiful and loved the heater in the bathroom. So quiet! Recommended humidifiers for the place and recommend that you pick up some Kleenex before heading up the hill. Will definitely stay here again if we go back to Boise!

What a fabulous stay!!!! Absolutely stunning view will totally wow you!!!! I think it is by far the most beautiful view in Boise. I wish I had planned better and bought groceries to cook breakfast there so we could enjoy the view more. The kitchen was very well stocked with cooking items. And even some pantry staples such as spices, coffee etc. The king bed was comfortable, there were nice privacy shades on most windows (except the kitchen). And the en suite bathroom was wonderful with its own heated thermometer. We were really thankful for the use of the high chair, crib and toys as well. Plenty of room for my husband and I, our 3yr old and 9 month old. Thankfully we didnt get much rain and only drove out on the roads at night once because I as the passenger-seated-wife was definitely gripping my seat as it is a climb up the side of the mountain and then the very wide parking area at the house has a drop off area beside it without a fence to be aware of if you have kiddos. The dirt road drive to the house seemed very well taken care of by the community and our AWD pathfinder rental handled it with complete ease. The wonderful cozy cabin feel made it feel like a home away from home. We were also thankful for the many soft blankets. We'd love to visit again someday. And the weather was gorgeous in the 60s or so. A lovely break for our FL family. We were also thrilled to see elk, turkeys, and deer on the community drive to the house.

We had a fantastic time staying here! The views were absolutely breathtaking. As busy parents with 2 young kids, this was the perfect getaway to have some peace, quiet and solitude for a night. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could imagine, the bed was very comfortable, the house was setup with linens and shampoo for showering without having to pack extra stuff. We loved seeing all the deer. They were everywhere! Be prepared for quite a trek up the hill. Once you pass the post office, it’s a 10-15 min drive on unpaved roads. It is absolutely worth it to get to this place! You won’t regret it!
