About this house rental

Welcome to Maile Treehouse this lovely vacation rental with views of the forest in Volcano, Hawaii on the lush Big Island. Tucked into a quiet neighborhood right in Volcano Village you are a few minutes drive to Volcanoes National Park and several excellent restaurants.

Please NOTE: each floor of Maile Treehouse is a separate one bedroom, one bathroom suite, connected by an external staircase. Upstairs is the main part of the house with the kitchen, main bedroom and queen bed. Downstairs is a small separate suite with a bed that can be King OR two Twins - please notify our team which bed configuration you want! King is the default configuration. The suites are never rented separately, so your privacy is assured.

Maile Treehouse was custom built to bring the Rainforest in with it's abundance of large unscreened* windows, with newly installed shades in the upstairs bedroom. There is a view from every room and in all directions, wood construction throughout and custom everything! The built in gas fireplace is two sided, visible from both the bedroom and living room with a warm glow. Above the gas fireplace is a small flat screen TV that you can view from the living room. The lava rock surrounded jacuzzi bathtub is set in a bay window just steps away from the cozy Queen Bed, with cozier still, heated mattress pads. These are among the many touches we have added to make your stay as luxurious and delightful as possible. Tall ceilings, rich Brazilian cherry floors, built in bookcases, and cabinetry, skylights built with hands and hearts!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the treehouse. The extensive use of wood, the cozy furnishingings, well stocked kitchen, amazing views of the rain forest and privacy. This did not feel like a basic rental, there were loving touches everywhere that made it feel like a home. The bed was so comfy and the towels were thick and luxurious. An unexpected syrprise were the nice bathrobes. The treehouse is super clean and the windows sparkle! We would definitely stay here again!

Excellent accomodations! The day we arrived was rainy and the Treehouse was so cozy, perfect to curl up and read a book. The location was excellent for hiking Volcano thee next morning and then popping back at night to see the lava. Also great location for visiting Panalu'u, a black sand beach with turtles!

We had a girls' trip....myself, my best friend, my daughter & my adult granddaughter. We cannot say enough about this magical, wonderful home! The attention to detail, both inside and outside the home is always giving you new, sweet things to see. The owners are bird and frog lovers, and the actual birds and frogs love this area, too...& they will sing for you....a lot! This property is enchanting, welcoming, & warm. There is even a fireplace that you flick on with a light switch, in case it's cold (which it can be...). The interior design is incredible, the furniture is comfortable & beautiful, & the beds are extremely comfortable. This home was brought to life through the aloha spirit - you can feel it. It's obvious the owners love this home and spend time here. There is even a lovely yard outside the downstairs unit. The bedroom split (1 up & 1 down), was just a small inconvenience, but also served the purpose of giving us a little extra space. We used the washer & dryer for one load of clothes - they worked great. Also - there are NO MOSQUITOS!! Thus....no need for screens. I was worried other bugs would com in, but they didn't. Communication was great with the management. The owners have gone to quite a bit of trouble to put together a very comprehensive book for your reference. We can't recommend this lovely home highly enough! You will LOVE it!!

We had a lovely stay at the Maile treehouse. The check in was easy and the house was very comfortable and clean. We loved the yard and took many walks up the road. It's a great location and really makes you feel like you're in nature with all the native birds around. One thing I would note, is that there are some mosquitoes, so we unfortunately had to keep the windows closed most of the time. We look forward to coming back!

Maille Treehouse is a beautiful property set in the rainforest in Volcano. Just 8 min to Volcanoes National Park. It truly has a treehouse feel but is modern, cozy with lovely decor. It is well stocked with supplies. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, whirlpool tub and full size laundry. Adorable lanai to enjoy for coffee, meals or sitting to enjoy the sights and sounds of the rainforest. Easy 40 min drive to Hilo for a day trip. A peaceful retreat after long hikes in the park.

It was a truly unique property! Loved all the personalized touches and the serene space. The sleep situation was not ideal for us however. I may have overlooked this in the description, but the second bedroom is a walk outside of the main living space, basically a separate apartment. We have a toddler and were not about to have her sleep out there by herself. Other than that, it was a great spot and super close to the national park.

What an adorable cottage in the middle of Volcano. Minutes away from the national park, but the property was secluded and an oasis in and of itself. My husband and I stayed on the top floor and our two teen boys had their own place down below with a separate entrance and bath. We loved the open air concept and kept the windows on the second floor open all night. The boys didn’t want to risk it on the first floor, so they slept a little hot. Backyard garden was idillic and fun to explore. Be warned that the road coming into the property is narrow and not in the best shape. We were glad to have a 4 Runner, not only for the rest of the island, but to get in and out of the property. A wonderful stay. Well equipped and designed.

We loved our time here! The property is just like the photos and it's so close to Volcanoes National Park. There was an eruption the day we arrived and we were able to get to it in 10 minutes. It's also just beautiful to be surrounded nature. A comment: there weren't any blinds/curtains, so be aware when the sun comes through in the morning.

The cottage is charmingly decorated with Hawaiian themes. Everything we needed was provided. Saltwater Vacations sent us accurate arrival information and texted us to confirm that we were able to access the property. The location just outside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was perfect, as we made multiple trips into the park each day. The only thing I would suggest to make it better is to add some window coverings in the bedroom. The light woke us up VERY early in the morning. But we knew this going in from the photos in the listing.

You can buy milk and snacks at the volcano store but should bring other groceries. We loved the gorgeous garden and the spa bath! The only downside was we were there during a full moon. It was gorgeous but there are no window coverings and it was like having a spotlight shining on us at night! Highly recommend this property.

Both the 1st and 2nd floors have separate entries, we chose to stay upstairs because of the openness and kitchen. Close to Volcano National Park, Volcano is a charming community with local art galleries and tasty food trucks.

We loved staying at this property! I went on a 2 night trip with a friend and wish we had stayed longer! Such a beautiful home in the lush rain forest. I definitely want to come back and stay a couple of more days with my family. Just FYI there is a bit of bumpy dirt road to get to the house and the driveway is a bit narrow to get in and out of but no big deal.

Situated in a densely wooded area, there is only one neighboring property visible so we felt we had great privacy. If you are coming in after sunset, be sure to follow their directions and have a flashlight you can shine on the mailboxes for the house numbers.

Words or even pictures can’t describe the earthy perfection of this home. This was our 3rd week of our Hawaiian vacation. Kauai was our first stop which we are very familiar, next was Kona first time to Big Island. Everything about this home near the volcano national park was perfect. The detail and comfort of the Tree house along with the wonderful town of Volcano and the proximity to the park entrance not to mention the relaxing feeling the tree house gave you to begin and end your day made it very special. The owner’s suggestions in the welcome book were all very useful and well thought out also the house was very clean. We never used the space downstairs but checked it out and it was nice for an extra couple. Great place don’t pass this one up! Mahalo

That was a cozy and nicely laid out place, with an artistic touch. It is 10 minutes away from the Volcano park. We absolutely enjoyed staying in this cabin located in the midst of the beautiful fern forest, it was an unforgettable experience for us.
